We woke up to the ship slowly pulling up to the dock at Castaway Cay. The island is all set up for us passengers, and we can see the lounge chairs and umbrellas out. DS is getting all excited and we all get ready to go. DH goes up to the buffet for a tray of pastries, etc., and we eat as we grab the last minute stuff.
Coming off the ship, we see a big tree and the famed snowman and lady off to the right. DH and the kids got their pictures taken, then we head off to the tram. It's pretty overcast and wouldn't you know it, light rain starts as we step off. It was kinda funny to be standing there in swimsuits and shorts with the rain falling. Oh well, it won't stop us!
DS goes on his merry way to find the teen beach, and we take DD to the kiddie club. They had to move it to Pop's Props because it was a covered area. DD gets dropped off and I have that mom's 6th sense feeling that we should have the pager nearby.
Sooooo.... DH and I take the tram to Serenity beach and decide to enjoy a drink and watch the water (too cold! lol). I swear we were only there for 15 minutes when we hear *beepbeepbeep* *beepbeepbeep*. That 6th sense surely was working that day, since we got the message that DD wanted to picked up at Pop's Props. We head back.
We get to Pop's Props, and she's sitting there drawing pictures with some other kids. The counselor said that she was fine with 2 other counselors, but then got sad when they had to go and do stuff with some of the other kids. Poor thing
She just wasn't in the mood to hang with the kids that day, I guess.
We take DD to the family beach where she ends up playing in the sand with the cutest little Brazilian girl! I think her name was Luna. Another photographer comes by and takes pics of everyone, then we go to Cookie's for lunch.
We had burgers, ribs, and chips. DH tried the lobster patties but we weren't to crazy about them. Too much spice and not enough lobster, IMHO. The sun was playing hide and seek by this time, and though it was getting a little bit warmer, the wind was too much for us.
Back to the ship we go, but not before taking a couple more pictures by Mount Rustmore! Once back onboard, we take DD to the Mickey pool where we have fun splashing around with her.
After that, we head back to the room to find a revised navigator due to the weather. They had added activities for those who either came back early or didn't go at all. The efficiency of these guys is amazing!
We tried to get DD into the Oceaneer's Club once it opened back up onboard, but she wasn't having any of it. *sigh* It would have been so cute to see her in the show that afternoon, but hey, it's a good excuse to cruise with Disney again!
edited to add: Ds caught up with us in the room and he was sopping wet! One of the teen activities on the Cay was to make a raft Survivor style and try to float it in the water. His sunk. LOL! He said it was so much fun! They even had the facepaint, which had partially washed off but we still saw some. He loves the color green.
Bingo! The jackpot is just over $1800 tonight! Did we win? Nope, but it sure was fun anyway! Two people ended up splitting the jackpot, the lucky ducks!
Dinner was at Triton's and John and Herman were in fine form. Herman surprised the kids with his magic paper folding skills. DD got a pretty flower, and DS got a neat puppet. DD loved the puppet too, and Herman saw this, so he made one for her! Tonight was the night to hand out the tips, too, so we had DD give them to John and Herman after dinner. DH bought the bottle of Iron Horse bubbly to take home, but sadly, we never got it signed by anyone. It was too late for Captain Henry to do it, and we were all too tired to stand in line for the last character's meet and greet. It will taste good on New Year's just the same
Anyway, the next morning was disembarkation. It went a lot faster than we thought it would, that's for sure! I can definitely say that we got a more thorough inspection coming across the mexican border than we did at customs at the port! The lady didn't even look at our passports! She just waved us on by. Had we known this, we would have had breakfast. It was COLD waiting for the happy limo guy to come and get us. Oh, and it turned out that there was a couple whose limo had broken down, so we shared the ride with them back to the airport. We watched Shrek 2 on the ride back. cute movie!
All in all, great cruise! We'll definitely do it again!
