Just won on Skyauction (room & board auction), so I can choose from availability at Getawayweeks.com, which appears to very similar, but not exact as Ready, Set, Go destinations.

We are arriving Dec. 11, and right now have a choice of 3BR at Summer Bay, Villages at Mango Key, or Villas at Fortune Place. Also, many 2 BR available. Anybody have any suggestions. Summer Bay looks very enticing as 3BR. Anyone stayed in a 3BR there.

Other ideas, opinions are welcom.

TIA.

How many people do you have?

If there is a 2 bedroom at CPGV I'd take it and run. Otherwise, I'd probably go with the Summer Bay.

congrats!! Don't you just love Skyauction??!!  :teeth:

she must have taken the 3 bedroom since there are no 3 bedrooms on getawayweeks now for summer bay

Actually, I missed out on it. I'm not really interested in the other 3 BR that are available right. I stayed at CPGV a couple of yrs. ago (May 2002, I think) and was not impressed. Of course, my only experience before that was OLCC. I wish I could still get them on Skyauction, but haven't seen in a really long time.

Right now, we are a party of 4 me, DH, DS7 and DD4. However, DMIL may join us, or another family may join us, so a 3 BR would be great, but probably not necessary.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get certificates when you win this type of auction (room & board). I've always bid on RSG before and had the resort held before I bid.

I've won the RSG auctions before, but I've never heard of Room & Board auctions or Getawayweeks.com. Can you explain how I find them on skyauction, and how they differ from RSG?

They email the certificates asap, then when you book your room then they fax or courier the exchange request papers. The Board "part" also comes as a courier once you've chosen the resturant.

I wonder if I should be concerned then. I pd. yesterday afternoon for 2 certificates, assuming that they would be e-mailed immed. and still haven't gotten anything yet. Do you think I should e-mail skyauction? or wait? I want to go ahead and get Dec. trip booked, as I'm not sure how availability will be when it gets closer.

Skyauction is closed on Saturdays, isn't it? Or is it Sundays? It's one of them and I'm thinking it's Sat.

I just bought the same certificate.
And I emailed them first to see how long it would take to get the certificate.
Right away they said.
Well, I bought them yesterday and I need to reserve for 11/27 so time is awasting!!!

I have fewer choices: a 2 bdrm at Summer Bay Resort or Orbitsomething.
Otherwise, its a lot of smallish oldish places that look, a bit iffy.

hope you finally got your stuff!!

I sent you a PM

I finally got my cert. #'s e-mailed to me yesterday and book a 2BR at CPGV. As, I said, we stayed there 2 1/2 yrs. in a 3BR and we not extremely impressed, but I'm hoping it'll be a little better this time. Of course, DH got extremely sick for a days on that trip, so that may have some bearing on my opinion. They did not seem as clean as other places we've stayed, and I believe that's why he was sick. Now, we always travel with Lysol!

Can anyone speak to the cleanliness issue at CPGV??

FayeW, I will PM you. kidsister and klynn I have replied to your PM's.

Thanks everyone!!

Just wanted to let you know that I finally got the email this morning.
I called and most everything from before was gone.
I settled for a one bedroom, but they let me put it on hold and when I went to check tonight I found a 2 bedroom at Vacation Village at Parkway. It seems everybody likes this resort, so I feel happy now.

I didn't much like dealing with the Sky Auction people, but the RCI getawayweeks.com guys were great!

Thanks poober, for your help.

Glad everything worked out!! This was my 5th time dealing w/ Skyauction and except for 1st and this last time, it's been great. The first time I bid was in Oct. 2002 and I bid on last minute auction at Vistana arriving that weeked (won the bid on Wed. night, I think). Anyway, because of everything I had spent getting ready for the trip, my credit card co. put out a fraud alert, but didn't try to contact me. Therefore, my card was declined at Skyauction, so I guess the unit went to the next bidder. When I called Skyauction and told them what had happened and that I had already cancelled the previous hotel reservations that I had, they were able to put me at Orange Lake for the same price! I didn't know till later that I could have Orange Lake cheaper at the time. But, with RSG auction I have never had any problems, although I did call my CC before I bid on one the second and asked them to put out a fraud alert.

I see the room certificates for sale on skyaution and was wondering if there are other fees for booking the resorts that they dont tell you about. It seems like a very good price and would love to hear from someone who has acutally used one.

The kind that I won and OP won are for getawayweeks and there are no other charges than the bid price and the @$15 auction fee. It can be a great deal! There are some where you bid on a specific resort...and those usually have an add on of $195 'tax, service fee' on top of the bid. But some of those go for $1.00 so $196 sure isn't bad for a week!!!!

I'll be using mine next week, so I will let you know how it went!
