Women's warm winter coat suggestion?

I also have a Lands End down filled coat that goes down to about my mid thigh. Down is the only way to go if you live somewhere that is very cold :thumbsup2

I have a Columbia. It does not look warm, but it really is and it has lasted forever!:thumbsup2

Yup, my 3 in 1 Columbia has lasted for almost 8 years and still looks brand new. :)

It has a zip out fleece liner, so I can use it as a windbreaker, wear the fleece separate or put the two together for a warm winter jacket. :)

ETA: I live in Wisconsin. :)

I need a new WARM winter coat, too. BUT I am allergic to feathers/down. I just spoke with my allergist and she said no way am I to wear my current down coat.((I was hoping since its only 20 or 30 minutes at a time I'd be okay))

Anyway .... what would you all suggest for a really warm bum covering winter coat without down??

Would PrimaLoft work since it is synthetic? It's amazing material; both my husband and I have coats made out of it. He likes it much better than his down since it's less bulky and better in wet conditions.

Hi,

I have found a winter customized clothing store The Custom Clothing. It have good collection of customized woolen jackets, overcoats, capes for men and women.

I was going suggest primaloft also. If you can get to Birch Run outlets they have a North Face outlet. I was there last week. They had great down jackets marked down and an additional 40% off. I got a primaloft jacket for my S org. $199, for $89.

Taking notes here, we just moved to Virginia after 14 years in Florida. Our idea of winter clothes were a fleece jacket and fur lined flip flops LOL I've already decided I will probably freeze to death here!

I also vote for LL Bean Baxter State Parka. I broke down and bought one 3 years ago and it was the best money I ever spent. I was tired of always being cold, it is great and best part is the hood is also lined with down so it stays on and doesn't blow off every time the wind picks up. Love it, so warm and comfy I could use it for a blanket.

I would hope the OP has a coat by now. ;) The thread is from 2011 and was bumped up by spam. :)
