I'd like to get my 13 yo daughter a northface fleece jacket for Christmas. Any recommendations for where to get one for a good price? Any places that traditionally have sales or good prices?

Thanks!!

I actually just ordered a size Medium in black for my daughter about 30 minutes ago from Amazon. It was $74.99 with free shipping. I had $60 in gift cards saved up from Swagbucks, Bing, and Mpoints, so I paid a whopping $14.99 out of pocket. Not too bad! But, even without the gift cards, $74.99 is about the lowest I've ever seen. I had to play around with the sellers a bit to find that price, but I jumped on it as soon as I did. I also went thru ebates, which is offering 3% back on clothing right now.

I'm not sure exactly when it falls, but Macy's has friends and family during December I think and you can get almost anything for 25% off. (Gosh I hope I got the percentage right. So sorry if it's less.)

Anyway, the discount works on north face so that's been a good way to get a deal on it for me.

north face keeps a fairly tight reign on discounts.
depending on the specific coat you get you may be able to find it at dick's sporting goods and i believe you can use the $10 off of $50+ or $15 off of $75+ on north face products.

most small retailers (like winter sports shops) don't seem to discount them. at least that was my experience.

i actually just bought one a couple weeks ago and i ended up buying directly from the north face website because dicks and other local retailers did not carry the specific one i wanted which was the "OSO". it has a hood which is the main reason i wanted that one over other ones.

if you're looking for the "OSITO" which tends to be the most popular one you can likely find it in a store.

i also want to warn you from my experience.
this brand runs SMALL!
i went through their little "sizing guide" and even put in that i like my coats a little loose (so i can wear a sweatshirt under them if i want) and it told me i should be an XL but because i wanted it loose to get an XXL.
let me tell you the XXL JUST fits.
i can get a sweatshirt on under it but you can see the sweatshirt seems through the coat its that fitted to my body.
i put my phone in my pocket and asked my mom to guess what was in my pocket and she could clearly tell it was my phone.

i do like the coat and took it for a "test drive" on sunday when it was about 35*F out by standing outside for 5 minutes in the evening while waiting for my friend to pick me up to go out to dinner and it did pass my test as i am generally a cold person and i was not cold standing outside wearing it.

i just wanted to warn you that you may want to size up.

its all about patience i guess... bought a north face jacket for 50% off @ sports authority...

missed another North face sweatshirt also 50% off @ rei... :(

Check to see if you live near any of their outlet stores too. Many times they have things half price or even better deals there.

We have a North Face outlet by us that has great prices. Before it opened, I got mine at Macy's during Friends and Family. I bought a men's because it was cheaper than women's.

Yes - beware of fakes. If you find a fantastic deal on price, beware. Northface controls the prices so if you find a GREAT deal it might be a fake.

type your search into Nextag. It will pull up retailers with NF at discounts. Typically these are last years' jackets, but I have bought from 6pm.com, klmountainshop.com, and another ski retailer, I think it was o2sports.com (?). Anyway, all reputable dealers, along with Moosejaw, and Backcountry.com. Oh, and I've gotten several coats at 30% off, because I never care if it's last year's model.

I second the outlet store if one is near. While in Maine, I went in one (wasn't a planned stop), and was delighted to have hit a sale. I got each boy one for Xmas for $40 each! Now, I didn't have a wide choice of colors, but that was fine with me :)

Definitely don't buy from a private seller, like those on Amazon. Chances are they're fake! Unless you don't care if it's authentic or not, which a lot of people don't. If you bought direct from Amazon, I think it would be okay. But if it's any of the marketplace sellers, look out.

I have purchased two from Amazon so far, with no problems at all. Both were Prime items, and I made sure to review the feedback. I'm sure there are fakes out there, but if you're careful, Amazon is still a great way to snag a deal. Especially when I was able to use gift cards I had earned to pay for them.
