Would it be too hot in October (8-13) for denim shorts?

I am probably the anomaly they wouldn't definitely not be too hot for me. In October I usually wear jeans especially if we plan to stay until close. But I am always cold.

Weather temperatures at the beginning of October are difficult to predict. Last year in particular it was very, very hot in October. In other years, its been quite comfortable in October. Perhaps you can delay your packing until the long-range (one-week ahead) forecasts can give you a better read on what may happen this year.

I usually wear them and I am comfortable. It can get pretty warm in October, though the warmest I remember was low 90's.

denim shorts are fine....as long as it doesn't rain.
i might wear them when near our resort (especially during our early oct vacs when it rains quite a bit), but not to a park. just a few hours in wet denim means "stuck to skin", chaffing, and just an allover gross feeling.

even if the bottom of the legs start to dry, the pocket areas stay wet for most of the day - yuk

With you on that point. There is nothing more uncomfortable than having to wear wet/damp denim jeans or shorts.
