Someone close to me, who shall remain nameless, went through a pretty bad breakup several weeks ago. Total surprise to her -- she thought everything was going well. He, on the other had, thought he'd like to end the relationship and date someone else ... not necessarily in that order.

Anyway, she's getting back out there and has gone on a few dates. but she's still pretty ticked at the ex. Now she wants to put together a CD of angry, woman scorned songs for therapeutic purposes. :teeth: She's asking me for suggestions, but I like my DH at the moment, so I'm having a hard time coming up with anything.

Let me clarify: she's not pining away for this guy, but she is hurt by the way he ended it. So, her frame of mind is more "eat your heart out" than "please give me another chance."

Therefore, the following songs would not make the cut:

  • Come Back to Me - Janet Jackson
  • Anything for You - Gloria Estefan
But these songs would:

  • You Oughta Know - Alanis Morrisette
  • Before He Cheats - Carrie Underwood
  • I'd Love to Castrate You, You Piece of *BLEEP* (Okay, I made this one up, but if there were such a song, it would be on this CD).

Any suggestions?

As long as profanity isn't an issue, Backstabber by the Dresden Dolls.

I would say the entire Jagged Little Pill CD by Alanis Morrisette. That's the one I use when I'm ticked off.

I kind of like Whitney Houston's "It's Not Right, But It's OK."

Being from Iowa, I'm sure you've never heard this next one, but if you crank up the LIVE version of the Michael Stanley Band's "Shut Up and Leave Me Alone," you can really work out some crap. It's a break-up song, but it works for me whenever I'm pissed.

It's on iTunes. Spend a buck, crank it up. If it doesn't help, I'll send you the buck.
You don't pay and you don't ride.
Aint no way around it
You can run but you just can't hide.
Not now, not just when I found what
you been up to, all your lies.
Now you're back and say you're staying
And you know that look you got it your eyes
...well so what? I got one thing to say and it's...

Shut up! Andleave me alone!
Don't call, there won't be nobody home.
Baby, from now on let's let the good times roll
Shut up and leave me alone!

You just ran out of time. I ain't standing at attention.
Null and void got you out of my mind.
So check it out, 'cause I forgot to mention...
I ain't dancin' anymore to that same old tune you're playin'.
So turn it off and take it right out the door.
Bottom line, anyway you say it is...

Shut up! And leave me alone!
Don't call there won't be nobody home.
Baby from now on let's let the good times roll
Shut up and leave me alone!
I said, "Shut up!"

Bring this mother down...

Are we makin' any headway here darlin'?

I'll tell you one more time now

Shut up and leave me alone
Don't call there won't be nobody home
Baby from now on let's let the good times roll
Shut up and leave me alone!

Shut up! ...

How about that old Gloria Gaynor song, I Will Survive? At least I think its Gloria Gaynor. It goes something like this:

Go on now
Go walk out the door
Just turn around now
Cuz you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
Did you think I'd crumble?
Did you think I'd lay down and die?
Oh no, not I
I will survive

Also, Bonnie Raitt's Love Me Like A Man is a good one. Or Natalie Merchant's Seven Years. Or maybe Bon Jovi's You Give Love A Bad Name. Or Bob Dylan's Don't Think Twice, Its Allright. Or REO Speedwagon's Time For Me To Fly.

Geez, you'd think I actually was a divorcee myself. :lmao: I actually had a bad breakup with my DH before he was my DH and most of these songs were my mantra at the time.

I have been going thru a very bad brake up and have also done a list of songs!
(must be in the air)
a few off the top of my head are:

Pain~ Three Days Grace
Rest in Pieces~ Saliva
Through Glass~ Stone Sour
and last but NOT least!

Call Me When Your Sober!~ Evanescence

I've always liked "I'm Still Standing" by Elton John and "Strong Enough" by Cher (cheesy, but they work for me).

"Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood.

"Die Die Die My Darling" by Metallica <----dedicated to my ex husband. lol

"Always" by Saliva

"Your Hand" by Pink- not really a "break up song" , but an anti-male jerk song for sure!

"Nasty Boys"- Janet Jackson- also "anti-jerk"!

Theres a new country song I have heard a couple times, I think its called "the one in the middle" -- she says something like she would have given him her ring finger but now shes giving him the one in the middle....hehe. Dont know who sings it tho.

Tell her to get So Blu by Blu Cantrell. This is a wonderful CD to crank up and get it all out. The first 3 are great they take you from sad to angry (payback) and then to understanding and acceptance:

"Waste My Time"
"Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)
Till I'm Gone

Kelly Clarkson-Since you've been gone
Taylor Swift-Picture to Burn (might be a little more 'scorned' than you're looking for)
Britney Spears-Stronger (I know)
Sugarland-Settlin'

Oddly enough, these tend to be my kind of songs, despite the fact that I'm happily married. I've been in a very happy relationship for almost 7 years, and yet, I'll sing along to all this stuff. Kind of funny.

F--- You Right Back by Frankee (lots of adult material and swear words in that one lol)..Oh, this is a song in response to F--- It by Eamon who sings of his cheating gf so it may not apply.

I'm A Survivor by Destiny's Child

Over You by Chris Daughtry

yup, I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor

She's asking me for suggestions, but I like my DH at the moment, so I'm having a hard time coming up with anything.
:lmao: :)

Patsy Cline comes to mind. You could hear it in her voice. She had a few good songs.
