I guess it was all paid for, so she went through with it solo. I'm pretty sure the commercial photography fees are really high. I'm not sure how they managed to get so many shots where it looks almost empty.

I think there is software that helps remove unwanted people from photos.

The areas that look empty are pretty secluded - places off the main path an against railings.

It's surprising how empty parks can look if you are willing to wait for the right moment. I have taken photos at the WDW carousel on a Saturday afternoon with no one else in the shot, we just had to wait for that break in the crowd. And if they went at opening (or on a Magic Morning or Extra Magic Hour) in the middle of the week, the park could be basically deserted

I noticed some shots where other visitors are in the shot, but not front and center. I think permission for commercial shooting may also come with a CM to suggest shooting locations as well as hold off crowds.

From my understanding commercial shooting is only handled through Disney photographers and not 3rd parties. If that is the way they went then typically it is prepare opening or after closing so there are no crowds. If it is during open hours then it is with full knowledge guests will be in the background.

It is possible she just hired a local photographer with an Annual Pass and did it with out permission or Disney's knowledge. If this wasn't done through Disney then hopefully this photographer didn't have a contract with Disney floral and wedding or it is possible they just lost it since it it is getting a lot of publicity.

Either way the photos are a great idea. Canceling that late would have meant they would have had to pay anyways so why not go take photos that make you feel good.

It looks like this company has done official Disneyland after hour wedding photography. There's no way they managed to do this surreptitiously.

Yep, all of this. If this guy isn't park sanctioned this story could very well destroy him. Disneyland is private property and selling images of the park which he effectively did could find him in a world of hurt. LOTS of photographers do it just as you described but they try to be discreet about it and if they're not interfering with other guests CMs tend to look the other way. (That's why you usually see most Disney shoots by non CMs done in CA Adventure because it's quieter and less crowded.) With these pics being published in a story, I'm not so sure Disney will overlook it.

Where does it say/show he's done official park photography? I'd tried looking around but I can't find it? He's a great photographer.

edit- I see, exclusive visits. Man, that must cost an arm and a leg.

I wasn't necessarily thinking they were hired by Disney. However, it looks like they've received authorization to shoot on Disney property. I can almost guarantee that they were followed around by Disney CMs unless they jumped over a fence.

Yeah, I can see him getting away with the engagement photos, I've seen other photogs get away with similar but that wedding? Can't see any other way then he was authorized to do it. No doubt it cost a fortune though. If he was authorized to do the engagement pics I can see why she went through with it. Most photogs don't give refunds after a certain point and if he had to pay Disney for the privilege I could see where he'd be less inclined to do so.

The photos, absolute lack of any other visitors other than the wedding party, the name on the Art of Animation marquee, and the private access to normal off-limits areas seem like it was done when the park was closed. Yeah - that screams someone paid a boatload of money for exclusive after-hours access. The blog post has a list of all the vendors and locations, including Aladdin's Oasis for the ceremony and Tower of Terror for the cocktail reception. The event planner is listed as someone with Disney Weddings. I looked at the pricing, and I can't find anything that quite matches it, but they do have an option for over $100,000.

I suppose they might have tried to remain quiet when taking photos. There have been suggestions that CMs look the other way if it doesn't affect other visitors. However, if this company has done authorized photography inside Disneyland, maybe they know how to seek authorization photography during regular park hours even if there's no public acknowledgement of how to do something like that.

I got married at Disneyland through Disney Fairy tale Weddings. (Not sure if the rules are the same as Walt Disney World.). I could have gotten an in park photo shoot as part of the package. It is only available if you book through Disney Fairy tale weddings and are having your wedding/anniversary party there. The shoots are done in the morning before the park opens. So the night shots you see are really early morning shots. They also only offered a couple locations (in front of the castle at Disneyland or in front of the Carthay Circle in Disney's California Adventure at the time I looked into it). You get a cast member escort. Some brides have reported they were allowed to take one or two photos in other nearby places such as king Arthur's carousel, but you don't get the run of the park. Some others have reported having a cast member that doesn't let you do anything but the single location you chose. As far as I know it was for your wedding pictures only and not your engagement photos. I don't think they offer engagement photo shoots at Disneyland before hours. You can go in with a photographer anytime during normal operating hours for engagement photos.

We didn't do it because the cost at that time was $3500.00 for just the privilege of being in the park for the photo shoot, you still had to provide your own photographer. My aunt happens to be a kick *** wedding photographer so we just had her follow us around the parks after our ceremony (We went into the park after our lunch reception) and she took a bunch of photos of us everywhere. We didn't have our wedding clothes on (not allowed in the park), but we did dress nice and wore bride and groom ears. later in the day she managed to get shots of us in some places with no other guests in the background.

Of course, money talks, so I'm sure someone could probably get into other areas for pictures if they are willing to pay and know who to talk to.

Wow, that wedding on the dparks photo blog link is awesome! Way to make us all jealous! :lovestruc
