Wolfgang Puck Express on DDP

We are staying at POR, i know there is a boat there... Does it go to Downtown Disney???

Yeah it seems crazy IMO that they are not the same.

They are owned by two different companies so you need to make sure you go to the good one in the marketplace.

My best guess is they did not want the one on Westside taking customers from the restaurants.

So the good one is NOT Downtown Disney or is... I am confused. Where is the market place?

Yes the good one is at DTD marketplace - near earl of sandwich, rainforest cafe and the main shops like world of disney.

There is a smaller one at DTD westside but never been there.

I just wanted to make you aware of this (because we learned the hard way last week during our stay). We have always eaten at the WPE near Goofy's Candy Co. on each of our stays. We also did that this year on Thursday for lunch. We were able to order anything as a quick serve point and we did get the creme brulee as well. Fast forward to Saturday (we had La Nouba tickets and it was raining) so we decided to eat at the WPE at that end. Big Mistake!!! I couldn't even believe that the two restaraunts had the same name! The one by La Nouba had a VERY LIMITED menu, no indoor seating, not freindly service, and was just not good! To us it felt like a total waste of a meal point.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I've been to DTD a bunch of times, but never noticed there was 2, never ate at either. But, this time we'll be on the QSDP and was doing some research! This info really helps. I could just imagine me walking into the "westside" WPE and thinking "people get excited over THIS?" LOL

We ate here twice last year and the menu was fabulous - you could order entrees like the ribs and chicken breast which were also in their regular restaurant menu all for 1 CS! Things changed this year. We went hoping to get some Asian BBQ ribs but all they had were pizza and some limited pasta dishes. Very disappointing. We ended up walking to the WPE in the marketplace instead.

What one PP said was probably correct - they are trying to get customers to go to the restaurant instead of using the QS at WPE.

Last Sept. we ate the one in the Marketplace for the first time and the only dessert we could get was the frozen yogurt. But that was because they were sold out of everything else! I was bummed because I really wanted to have the Creme Brulee! I prefer the one by DQ, but only getting to have the frozen yogurt may have colored my opinion! :goodvibes

Oh, and BTW, I love most frozen yogurt but I didn't care for WPE.

I tried both WPE, and enjoyed The Wolfgang Puck Express in the marketplace the most.

It seems to me that the one in the westside is like an addition to the Wolfgang Puck Cafe, which is a table service location with inside seating, but the Westside WGE didn't seem to have as many food choices as the Marketplace one.

It awes me that both of those WPE are considered QuickService by the Disney Dining Plan (perhaps I shouldn't say that too loud?;))
I first went to the one by Cirque du Soleil, ie Westside WPE, didn't know there was a second one: no paper plates AND apart from ordering at the counter, it all seemed like a Table Service experience.
Ordered Carrot Cake dessert thinking to take it with me, but by the end of my entree I was full, and had already too many days of dessert (never thought I'd say that in my life :sad2:). Offered it to the couple at next table (it was in an obviously unopened container, & had been brought out to me after they had sat at that table)--I think I made the guy's night!

Going again in Sept 2011, with or without Free Dining, but sure plan to hit WPE Westside (and Earl of Sandwich) a few times.

FYI, I did have the Mac & Cheese, sadly I ws very unimpressed with it, but that is absolutely the only thing that got my thumbs down (but I miiighhhtt give them one more chance!)
