Wolfgang Express - What's good?

We always go to WPE, sometimes even twice a trip! LOVE the food. Tried many things on the menu, but I've especially liked:

*butternut squash soup (so creamy and flavorful)
*chinois chicken salad (previously mentioned, so good!)
*1/2 rotisserie chicken (garlic butter is amazing)
*side caesar salad (very good dressing)
*creme brulee (never met one I haven't liked, WPE's is really good)

We had lunch there in Aug. The roast chicken with mashed potatoes was amazing. The chicken was so moist and flavorful. :lovestruc DH had the roasted veggie pizza and actually preferred it to the one he had a Via Naopli earlier in the week. We both had the creme brulee and it was excellent. :thumbsup2

I was just there last week.

We had our old favorite, the half roast chicken with garlic mashed potatoes.
Friend had the new salmon entree...basically a big salad with a small piece of salmon, but good.
I had the butternut squash soup ..AWESOME (and a snack credit).
I also had the side of mac and cheese ..AWESOME as usual (also a snack credit).

The pizzas are good, but I don't think they are all that special.
If you like spaghetti, we saw it going out and it had 2 meatballs with it the size of baseballs.

We've always liked everything there. Can't really go wrong. That's why there's always a line.

Oh, and it's not on the menu, but they have cheesecake for dessert now and it's great..they brulee the top of it. I've never had cheesecake with the brulee top before and it was delicious and super rich!

Question...DH has an extreme aversion to mushrooms, I think I read somewhere that there are mushrooms in the meatloaf? Can you verify this for me? TIA. :) He loves meatloaf and the pics I've seen look great, but I'd hate for him to order this and start picking through it.

Just an aversion, not allergy or anything? I can tell you I really dislike mushrooms and can't much eat anything that tastes or smells of them, or when I can see them in there. Don't like the flavor or texture. The meatloaf exhibits none of these properties. ;) If there's mushroom in there, it's well-hidden and does not show itself in the flavor for me, nor did I see anything that was obviously a mushroom (though it's true since I didn't taste mushroom I wasn't looking THAT closely).

And yes, the cheesecake, mentioned it before but worth repeating. Can't remember another I liked so much. Wouldn't have known except the cashier volunteered it, so I tried it. Liked so much I had it again on second visit.

If it wasn't such a pain to get to DTD I probably would have gone more than twice! Easily best food of that trip.

Nope, no allergies, he just hates them! I'm not sure if just knowing they're in there, somewhere, invisible, will be a deterrent to his ordering the meatloaf or not, I should have never even mentioned it to him. Thanks so much. :) The cheesecake sounds yum, I've only gotten the creme brulee so will have to try it. We'll probably have dinner there a couple of times because the boat to DTD is so easy from POFQ.

I agree with PP, if there are mushrooms there are so well-hidden I didn't notice them at all :)

There ARE mushrooms in the meatloaf based on the recipe at the Wolfgang Puck site. They are finely chopped.

Wow...1/2 lb. of mushrooms is a lot! My in laws always insist that I make that green bean casserole every Thanksgiving (like nobody else can read the instructions on the side of the fried onions can), and DH always looks in the trash just to make sure I used cream of celery soup and didn't sneak in cream of mushroom.

I put a "duxelle" of mushrooms (processed finely) in my Thanksgiving stuffing, which is what goes in Wolfgang's meatloaf. My son who hates mushrooms, not allergic, just doesn't like the taste or texture, loves my stuffing. He never knew there were mushrooms in it till he saw me make it last year. The duxelle adds a savoryness to the meatloaf & stuffing, and I incorporate them in my own meatloaf. If you are allergic you should definitely not eat the meatloaf, if your're not allergic you may not even detect that there are mushrooms in it!

By the way, now he knows there's mushrooms in the stuffing, but he still loves it and eats it!

Wow, so there are mushrooms. Just don't tell him; I can just about guarantee he won't detect it. ;) If he knows they're in there then he won't order it. Of course, he could order one of the other great things, but I think you can get him to try it if you just keep quiet about it. The menu itself (even the one with details) doesn't mention the ingredients. Or, if you have to be honest and he asks, just tell him what we've said. I swear it did not in any way taste of mushrooms to me! But in that case he'll probably still choose something else. ;)

Ha! I know it's only mushrooms. :) Maybe he'll be daring and order the meatloaf or not...we've always liked everything we've had at WPE anyway, can't go wrong with anything. I already told him what you said previously and I'm sure it'll turn out fine. Thanks again.

Maybe I'm not a foodie but I absolutely loved the mac and cheese. It was so creamy and rich. The side order was enough for me with a side salad and it was a lovely meal.
