So I'm new here... Planning my trip to DL is Sept and have been reading like mad to try to get all the inside tips & tricks to make the most of our visit...

My question is about WOC.... Everyone talks about FP and meals to see WOC... But can you not see it without doing either?? Maybe a silly question but I will be travelling with a 5 and 2 year old so the thought of standing in line for hours with them to watch a show honestly frightens me!! Any insight is most appreciated! TIA!

Welcome to the boards and I can visualize your fear. Others will answer your question.

hi there
I felt the same way you do about waiting in line to get fast passes etc for this show. i didn't want to book the dinner package either...more money than I wanted to spend for the 5 of us, but I did want to see the show if possible. I don't know how realistic this is for you, but I went to the WOC fast pass area during the early afternoon one day last week and got a fast pass for the 11:15 show. My kids weren't really interested in seeing the show, so DD20 stayed at the hotel with them while DH and I went to the 11:15 show. I'm glad I saw it, but I wouldn't have waited in that fast pass line for an earlier show.

What time did you get there for the fast pass? From what I've read it sounds like about 12:45 might be ok? I just want to know for sure what time it has been for the 11:15 show.

I can't remember exactly, but it was some time between 12:30 and 1:30 or so.

The simple answer is: no, you pretty much have to have a FP or a meal. Sorry. I also don't think that there will be FP left in the early afternoon in September. I'm pretty sure there will not be any 11:15 show in September, even on weekends.

I got there around 3:30PM on Friday, and still managed to get a fastpass (granted, it was for the last show, but it was blue section, which is arguably the best... it is the section the meal people get).

If you just want to watch and don't care about how many people are in front of you, you don't really have to line up super early before the show. Also, I thought the picnic meals were a pretty good deal. There were really easy and very quick, and the kids meals come with a light up WoC bracelet. I was able to get picnics for my family and I at around 6:00PM or so Friday (for the second show) without pre-ording.

Starting Sept 7th there will only be ONE show at 9 pm. I don't think anyone knows yet what the demand will be when they cut it down from 3 per night to 1. Keep that in mind, I don't know when you were planning on going in Sept.

Thanks so far everyone!! We will be there the last week of Sept so it looks like there will be only one show - 8:15pm. Does this make sense if the park closes at 8pm?? Weird...
If we were to do a picnic, does that mean we could arrive say at 8pm and watch the show??

Yes it makes sense. They have been doing 11:15 shows all summer when the park has been closing at 11. If you do a picnic and you

a) Wanted a good view/standing area-show up at 7
b) Didn't care-show up at 7:30/7:45

I'm pretty sure you could show up at 8 but your views would really be limited and the kids would have trouble seeing for sure unless they went on shoulders.

I don't think this is true. We will be there the weekend of September 17, and 2 shows are scheduled each night, according to the Disneyland website.

We went the route with the picnic meal, and man, I felt like we spent too much. WoC was pretty awesome, but the meal was the worst we had at DL, especially for the money.

Also, even with the FP's, the area filled up almost two hours ahead, so we had our blue-section tickets, but were still far to the "left" as you're facing the lake. It was a long wait, especially since once we were in, we couldn't get back out to buy water or food.

Maybe the later shows were easier to watch, crowd-wise.

I recommend the picnic meals for your family. They are not overly expensive, the kids meal comes with a fun light up bracelet, which your kids will love as a souvenir, and then you don't have to wait. The show is fantastic, and it's not as packed as the fantasmic seating, so your kids can move around a bit. My boys are older, but still not great waiters, so I brought a game along, which we played once we staked out our our spots. The pre-show entertainment is really fun too. There were plenty of little ones around us, and their responses to the show were just charming. Have a great trip. :goodvibes

What we did last week was to go in at park opening (935 for a 10am scheduled opening) and went straight to the FP for WoC and got Red zone 0900 FPs... Then at 830 we went straight to the Red Zone splash zone (no wind that night) and got a spot right in the centre with only one person in front of us... three of our party then left to get food (you can get passes as you leave the area from CMs). We sat and ate while we waited for the show, when it started we had ringside seats and did not get wet at all...
