We just returned from our Disneyland trip. I just wanted to post some quick notes about WOC.

1) If you are staying at the GCH you can enter DC at 9am to grab FP's for your family.

2) Be aware that all the tickets you are using to get FP's must be "activated". Meaning that all the tickets must show up in the system as being used to enter DL or DC on the day you are collecting your FP's for the WOC. [thanks to HydroGuy and sierranevada for pointing this out]

3) If you are not staying at the GCH you can either line up at DC early and stand in a long line or buy the picnic lunch online. Both will give you the same level of tickets. The $14.95 saves you from standing in line.

4) The only reserved seating [front/center] available is through purchasing a meal at Ariels or the Grotto. If money isn't an issue this would be worth it to skip the lines and early crowds to get a good spot to see the show.

5) It appears that FP tickets are printed randomly. I got FP's for the Blue section while a family right behind me got FP's for the Yellow section.

6) Blue section is the far left, Yellow section is the center [these are the only color sections I could find location]

7) You will get wet standing close to the front rail [from mist blown over by the wind]

8) To me the farther back you see the show from the better.

8) Your FP ticket will say you cannot line up prior to 7:30PM for the 9PM show but we showed up at 7:30PM and the Blue section was already full. So just keep that in mind.

Last point would be that this is totally disorganized. So relax and make the best of it. It is a great show.

Hope this helps.

To clarify, you made several references to "sitting" which I think you meant to say "standing". :)

LOL. :) Yes you are correct it's standing. I'll edit my post.

Thanks!
I meant to thank you for the detailed post but forgot. So thank you!

We have a preferred dining spot in a couple weeks and I am still not sure whether it will be better to be closer to the water or further back. I hear different things from different people.

Also, I was very surprised to hear that you have to have your entire party with you to get WOC FPs. I have heard the opposite from others.

I know that for any FP at DLR you need to first have each person enter one of the parks so their ticket is initialized. I am wondering if the limitation you discussed about having each person with you for WOC FP is really just a limitation that each person needs to have entered one of the parks first. The reason I ask is that I think some of us (especially me) will want to see WOC a second time and we will use FPs this time. We are planning to be at DL in the morning and then I think I will head into DCA thru the GCH entrance to get FPs before the 9:30AM rush. I planned to do this solo since I will have all entrance tickets with me and they will all be initialized from the DL entrance. What do you think?

You are correct, Hydroguy, that as long as the tickets have been "activated" through entering the park (either DL or DCA), one person can then take all the park tickets to the FP's for WoC. The OP is probably assuming that guests using this perk are probably entering the parks for the first time.

Thanks sierranevada! That makes it easier for everyone.

I went on a day we planned on going to DC. Since DC opens at 10am I went by myself at 9am to obtain the FP's. The person helping me with the FP told me that everyone had to be there which didn't make sense. It would have made it easier if he explained that all the tickets had to be "activated" at either DL or DC.

Thanks again and I will edit my post.

You're correct. The tickets only need to be initilized in either DL or DC before you can obtain a FP. Why is it that folks on this board know more about DL than the folks that work there? :) Thanks for pointing that out. I've updated my original post.

Enjoy the show! I wouldn't worry too much about where to stand for the show.
