WOC viewing without dining package

Hi all!

Heading to DLR on Friday and my daughter would like to see WOC (we have seen it before with a dining pkg FP). Is anyone willing to share their favorite non-dining package spot to watch that does not require more than a 30ish minute wait? Either in a regular FP section (which color?) or a walk up spot? Thanks so much!

To be honest, I haven't really found any good spots in the FP viewing areas that you could get to with less an a 30 minute wait. I'm on the shorter side, so anything towards the middle-to-back tends to mean an obscured view (you have to be able to see the water surface - which is below the viewing areas - to really see the whole show).

Thanks. Maybe 30 min. is unrealistic. Please share any viewing spots even if they require a longer wait then. Thank you!!

We were there in December during the very busiest holiday time. We had Yellow FPs, which we weren't too excited about, so we decided that we would see what that got us if we walked up two minutes before show time. As it turns out, there were great viewing spots along the rail in the wet zone and they remained available for anyone who wanted to walk in at all with a Yellow FP. We were off to the side a bit but still had a wonderful view. If getting lightly misted won't bother you, I'd say you could get a wet zone spot easily within 30 minutes of show time. YMMV of course - if you don't want to risk getting shut out, you should pursue a different plan. It worked for us, but we were ready to walk away if it didn't.

It looks like there will be only one WOC on the night you visit. So I would be ready to invest more time waiting for a good viewing spot. The yellow zone is a large area, so decide whether you want the wet zone or a level further back, then head right there when you are allowed in. As long as you are closer to the center of the viewing area and up by a railing if you are short, you should be fine.

Our last 2 trips we got a blue fast pass and watched from the bridge that goes to Ariel's Grotto. Usually not very busy there so a rail spot is relatively easy to get. Good view.

I agree that this is the best spot because you get a great view without having to fight for it, but I would say that you should get there at least 45 minutes before showtime to ensure you are right on the railing -- and an hour is even better.

Going for first DL trip in May and would like to see WOC. I see where they say you need a FP. Why are they different colors? What do the colors mean? Do they all come out of the FP machine? Sorry if this is a stupid question just never knew they came in different colors. Thanks

I found with the Blue FP bridge view that it was a little difficult to see some of the projections because you view them at an angle.

Our favorite spot is the second from the bottom tier in the yellow section, rail spot as far to the middle as you can get. We've only been lightly misted there.

The different color FP give you different viewing areas. Blue and yellow come out of the FP machine. The other viewing areas are the FP you get with the dining packages. There is a super thread with a map on this board, if you do a search you should be able to find it.

Thanks! How early do you tend to arrive for the yellow section? (or how long to line up before the suggested time on FP?)

I don't remember the posted return time on the FP, but we went at least an hour early. I do remember we wanted to be there before the return time posted on the FP so that we were ahead of the masses! We don't go to DL more than once a year...sometimes we even skip a year, so I'm willing to put in the time it takes. Once they let us into the area we sat on the ground by the railing while we waited for the show to start, so we weren't standing the whole time, thank goodness.

Just want to add we've seen WOC from the blue section twice, once on the bridge, once at a railing. The third time we tried the yellow section in the spot I've mentioned, and that's what we've done the last three times we've seen it. It's by far our favorite. I think there are more good spots in yellow than in blue, even though blue has some great spots. It just seems easier to get a good spot in yellow. At least that's been our experience.

You will definitely get a better angle if you are on the viewing area side of the bridge farthest away from Ariel's Grotto. The projections are at a slight angle from there, but even straight on they remain somewhat fuzzy because they are on water screens. It's just my personal opinion, but the projected images are the least interesting part of the show anyway -- I like the lights and towering fountains synced to the music best, and that can be enjoyed from any angle.

can't seem to find the WOC super thread ... could someone post it

going at the end of Feb and trying to understand my options

I totally agree. A lot of people like the bridge but it feels a little removed from the action to me. I love the yellow section, second to bottom on the rail. We generally arrive about 15 minutes before the return time and then have one person stake out the spot while the other goes for dinner (or occasionally on a ride).

Do WOC Fast Passes usually run out early in the day? Or can you still get one mid-to- late afternoon? I'll be there for a half day on Feb. 3rd. but won't arrive until about 2 or 3. Thanks!
