WOC Picnics with "Reserved Viewing"

Despite doing a search and going through several threads about the picnic meals, from what I have read (aside from one poster on one thread who talked about keeping the WOC bag from the picnic meal out and visible to CM's and who recommended to keep asking about the "reserved viewing picnic area") it does not seem as if Disney has a specific "reserved viewing" area for those who purchased picnic meals.

Almost all of the posts refer to being mixed in with regular FP holders for the yellow and blue viewing sections. While there is a separate line for those with "Preferred Viewing" FP's, I have not read about a separate line for those with "Reserved Viewing" FP's.

It seems as if what is really being "reserved" with the picnic meal is the FP itself for the yellow or blue section, not space in any kind of "reserved viewing" area. Maybe Disney is thinking anyone who obtains a FP by any method has "reserved viewing".

Clearly, the picnic meal will save you from the line at GRR to get FP's, and seems to assure you of one of the two decent sections, but it does not seem to actually offer the benefit that Disney advertises.

Does anyone have experience either way: yes, there is a "reserved viewing" area...or nope, just mixed in with other yellow & blue FP holders?

Bonus! Order a picnic with Reserved Viewing tickets for the first World of Color showtime and receive a free reusable World of Color souvenir tote.

For the picnic you are mixed in with Yellow and Blue FP holders. The only reserved area is for the dining package at either AG or the wine country place.

You are correct. The reserved viewing is for anyone with FPs to the show, whether its from a picnic meal of waiting in line at GRR. The preferred viewing for those that purchased the full meals at AG or WCT are in their own section (green).

From my understanding, purchasing the picnic offers 2 benefits: not having to stand in the FP line to get your FP and not getting the red section.

With the picnic, if you pre-purchase, you know you'll get blue or yellow for the first show. If you walk up, you should get blue or yellow for the second show.

This seems to be the one bit of info that is clear to me. LOL. Little else about WoC is!

Well, based on these responses, it's not what Disney is advertising it as. Reserved means "kept or set apart or aside for future or special use" or "set aside for specific use".

Disney should stop calling it "Reserved Viewing" and start calling it what it is: pre-purchasing a FP.

I have to disagree. It is what it is. A reserved section to see the show.

Just called Guest Services and found out Disney is using the "anyone who obtains a FP by any method has 'reserved' viewing".

While it is what it is, it's still misleading at best. Disney touts the picnic meals as having "reserved viewing" without any mention of the fact that it's no different from the entire rest of the the FP viewing area. And the website even goes so far as to say they are "special" tickets.

I didn't purchase the picnic meals to avoid standing in line for FP's at GRR, or for the food. If we hadn't gotten yellow or blue for the first showing, we would have tried later for the second or third showing. Or tried on another day.

I purchased them for the express purpose of getting FP's to a viewing area that was actually "reserved" for those who purchased picnic meals.

I know what you mean, but technically you are getting a reserved area for people who purchased picnic meals. It is just not exclusively for picnic meal purchasers.

We purchased a lunch online as soon as they were available, picked them up at 5:15 and were given blue FP. If I had to do it again, I would probably just get a fastpass the regular way. My group did not care for the lunches.
WoC was terrific, but standing for so long was a bit tough. We ended up on the boardwalk, far enough back that we didn't get wet.
