So I guess that makes it "Official". Today's local ABC news broadcast (A Disney owned station) mentioned that World of Color will open on June 11th. It also mentions that there is a sneak peak video on the Disneyland website but I haven't been able to find it.

Thanks for the link-I just couldn't find it by going to disneyland.com
Knew someone here would know it.

Looks so cool but I don't know when I'm going to be able to see it.:confused3 As an APH we typically don't go for all day. If we go in the a.m. we leave early evening. If we go for the nighttime stuff, we go early/late afternoon. So there's no way we'll be able to get one of the 18,000 Showpasses to see the show. Guess we'll just have to wait to all the furor dies down.

Let's see...1 million+ AP/9,000=111 performances plus tourists.... I think 2011 looks good for me! :rotfl:

Someone actually posted about this official June 11th opening on the DIS yesterday (they saw it on Facebook - I assume on the official DLR Facebook page - I didn't check my Facebook page to see if DLR had sent out an update, but I am sure they did - they send them out about everything else).

Should be interesting to see what kind of impact this will have on the crowds in DCA specifically, and in both parks in general.

I am bummed that all the rides on PP will go dark (closed) before WOC starts since I LOVE riding the PP rides at night. With DCAs earlier closing times we don't get to do DCA too much at night. I've read that basically you'll want to be in line for the PP rides by about 8 p.m. so you can ride before the shut down for the night. Bummer!

I do wonder about the reported possible 11:15 showing. DCA typically closes early (for years I've heard it was part of the agreement with local residents to cut back on the noise) so how will that affect DCA's closing time? And, will other areas of DCA stay open until 11 or 11:15 or close earlier?

I too am very curious to see how the crowds at WOC will affect the crowds in the rest of DCA and at DLR. I'm hoping that it will mean that DLR will be less crowded and it will be easier to see the fireworks and F!. I guess time will tell.

DD10 is going off track in May (for the last time-our schools are going TRADITIONAL in Aug!) and we will be going several times (in between my new Census job) so we will be there before WOC. We are currently blocked for July and Aug which didn't use to be a problem but now that she will be returning to school in Mid-Aug. the only time we can go after June will be when we are blocked out. I'm thinking up upgrading our SC AP (exp. in Oct.) to Deluxe so we can at least go sometimes in the summer. I am going to miss going to DLR in Jan., May, and Sept. which were her off track months. Those were may favorite times. Less crowds, less hectic, and we got to know several CMs that we enjoy talking to when it isn't so crowded....

Okay, back on Topic

I never heard that one! It is my understanding that DCA closed earlier due to lack of visitors. Everyone went to DL at night. Now WOC will keep people around.

That's what they said way back when it first opened. Of course they also told us the shields on Maliboomer were for noise but now they will tell you they are for in case someone gets sick it directs everything down, not out.

Uh oh. We'll be there the 11-17th. I have to admit I was hoping it would be either sooner or later. Now, it will be a bit of a madhouse.
**off to see if preferred seating is available yet...**

i think i read on a comment on mousechat that the premium seating should be available after May 12th :)
Im thinking about making ressies... Not sure If I want to wait in a long line for a SP.

We don't know how Showpass is going to work--I heard a RUMOR that only the first show would have Showpass. If there are 3 showings in a night then I think it's very likely that the last show would not have Showpass. Hopefully Disney will figure out how to let locals see the show the way they like. (Worst case, though, they'll have to take off work or something, which is what I have to do to visit anyway. :flower3: )

That is correct. if DCA becomes more populated, a 9-24 is actually possible.
If WoC does become a HUUUGE hit they will add more shows either beforehand or after, but im sure 80% of stores and rides will be closed during the last 2 shows... (if 4 were shown)
