WOC- How far ahead to line up?

Newbies to DL and WOC.

Going last week of April(slow season). Looking to get fast passes for this as to not have to spend money on pre-fix dinning with tickets.

How far ahead should we get to where the show is to line up?

Thanks

The Show Pass looks like a FastPass with a return window. Aim for 15 minutes before the return window opens. This will be 105 minutes before the show starts.

Wow, almost two hours before the show starts to line up?

Would that be the same if I decided to spend the money for the pre-fix dinner packagage with tickets not to have to wait?

Thanks

Yes, IMHO I would still want to get there 1 to 2 hours early even for the dinner passes.

The window opens at 90 minutes before the show, and even with dining you want to arrive a bit before that. This way you get in the front of the waiting area. So when you are let into your viewing section, preferred dining or not, you get the first choice of spots.

Spending this time is what helps you get the rail spots with unobstructed views of the show.

-Yep ski said it best... This is what I wanted to say but I was in a hurry this AM and the site is so darn slow... :)

We are planning on WOC dining package one week from today! I am hoping lining up about an hour ahead will be OK. Because I have two boys, who will be tired, and 2 hours in line with them at 10 pm (our time) will be ugly. Hell on Earth. From what I read on WOC super thread it isn't really possible to have one person wait while others do other things, or am I wrong? Maybe once we get our spots this could happen, but it seems as if most of the waiting happens prior to entering the viewing area, is this correct?

In our case our dining time was soo late that by the time we finished eating and found our way to the lineup area they were just moving our line into the preferred area. Even being the last of this line gave us great views. I've never been up front so I cannot compare, but it was really good; also that put us towards the back so if DS needed to use the potty or something it wasn't like going through cattle to get out.

Thanks all!!!

OT: I seem to be having problems with the speed of my computer only on this website no matter where on it I try to navigate to.

Has anyone else experienced this or is it my computer?

Thanks

:)

The site is extremely slow, they need to upgrade the servers or something. :) It's not just you. :)

We got there when our window opened and we had tons of people ahead of us, definitely get there early for the vest views.

Not entirely correct. WOC viewing seems to change regularly but in general if you show up the recommended 90 minutes before the show you will wait 30 minutes and then an hour before the show they will allow you to enter the viewing area. For the first show. Second show can't do that because the first show folks are still there.

So for the first show, 30 minutes in the queue, then 60 minutes at your viewing spot.

I'm not convinced all these suggestions of arriving 90 minutes early are the best advice, at least not on a slower day. We watched the show on a beautiful Wednesday evening after a beautiful Wednesday daytime. The parks were busy, but not unpleasantly crowded. Anyway, we arrived at the blue section for WOC at 65 minutes before the showtime. Many people were already filled in along the rails, but we easily got a spot along a rail and on top of a short set of steps to the left of the preferred dining section. We waited for an hour while people filled in, but for all but the last 20 minutes there was lots of space between the peole and anyone could easily have stood right behind me. We had an awesome view of the show, and I suspect that everyone around me had an equally good view, even those not immediately along the rail (perhaps helped by being on top of the short steps). It seemed kind of unnecessary to wait so long, and I feel we could have arrived 20-30 minutes later and had a similar view. At least that was my experience on an early Feb. Wednesday. I suspect these suggestions of arriving so early are more accurate for weekends, busy periods, and people who are fussy about having what is in their mind the "perfect view."

Thanks for your feedback.

I think the issue is not what happened on your particular night but what may happen on any given night. The advice we give around here about showing up 90 minutes early for WOC is not meant to be an average but a maximum. Can you show up later and still get a good view? On some nights yes. It also depends whether someones group has small children that must be at a front rail in order to see.

Some folks get a decent view not being at a front rail. Others think they have a decent view until someone tall steps in front of them or someone puts their child on their shoulders at the last minute. Then their good view all of sudden becomes ruined.

It is not a matter of being fussy about a view. It is about how much a chance someone wants to take that their view or their child's view may be blocked.

I am not sure 90 minutes is still the right advice. From what I read around it here it is. Tall people or groups only with adults or folks traveling during offseason may get away with a shorter wait. But I hesitate to tell someone they can get a good view by arriving 60 minutes early. It really depends. 90 minutes early seems to always work.

We saw WOC this past Monday night. This was a low crowd day We arrived at 7:45 for a 8:15 show. There were 3 of us, me, dh and ds15. We had blue fast passes and easily found a viewing spot on the bridge (my personal favorite "FREE" spot).

I think it depends on how busy the parks are and how many are in your party (like Hydroguy said). We are all adult sized, so it was easy to maneuver around people and find a good spot. If you have a lot or people or kids in strollers, it might be more difficult and would require you getting there at an earlier time.

That being said, any time spent waiting for this show is WORTH it, in my opinion. I really love WOC.

BTW, when did they start projecting images on the circle that is on Screamin'? That was an unexpected nice touch.

On most days DCA is only open 10 hours (10-8). You really going to waste 2 hours camping out to see a fountain show that is mediocre at best! :crazy2:

In answer to your question...

Case 1 - Day tripper - not worth the wait. So no.

Case 2 - Multi-day visitor, and the wait is 90 minutes not two hours, everyone in my family says it was worth it. So yes.
