WOC - dissappointed

I loved WOC and have always loved Fantasmic and still do. IMO they are 2 different shows in 2 different parks and each has it's own unique parts to see, and experience. I am simply amazed at the mere thought of developing and choreographing both of these shows.

Also, Glowfest was super-fun for me (44) and my DD (5)...we both danced and enjoyed the music and atmosphere!

We just saw WOC for the first time this weekend with our friends and their two kids who are 3 and 2. Their 3 year old (who had the best seat in the house on my DH's shoulders) loved it and so did we.

I get where people are coming from saying that there is no storyline, but I just think of it as a celebration of art of Disney. I thought the show flowed easily from one sequence to the next and I thought the lazer and fire effects were pretty cool. I think it is truly one of the best shows Disney has done, and I happily have paid for the Fantasmic dessert seating many times despite the price. If they ever do that for WOC, I will happily pay it.

Just back from DLR.

World of Color: BEAUTIFUL! Being a fan of water shows, I was very excited to see WOC. We purchased the picnic boxes, and stood on the bridge in the blue section to watch the show. The show was beautiful and very colorful; my family of 7 enjoyed it very much.

I agree with other posters, F & WOC are two different shows. I feel like I get Fantasmic as a bonus to my admission. With WOC, I feel like I have to pay extra either with my time standing in line outside CA – to stand in line to get a fastpass, or purchase park food to get a ticket.

My negatives about WOC (not the show itself):
*I don’t understand why we have to stand and wait for 1 1/2 hours prior to the show if we have a ticket for a spot in a reserved area.
*I don’t like having a specific time assigned to me when I’m on vacation. If I feel like watching Fantasmic at 10:30, I can. I didn’t like scheduling my Disney day around a WOC fastpass.
*I didn’t like purchasing 7 lunches to get tickets to the show and chance it being cancelled for various reasons: weather, earthquakes, malfunctions, etc.

Things I’m really disappointed with:
*We as a family would not buy the picnic lunches for lunch if it wasn’t for the WOC fastpasses. I’d rather have a $17.00 monte cristo over a $17.00 piece of cold chicken or salmon.
*The fact that ½ of the park closes down prior to the first WOC show. That leaves non-ticket holders with bugsland, Hollywood area (glow fest – I posted a not to happy review of this), and soaring over California.

Summary:
As I said, we totally enjoyed WOC. But F will still get our vote as the best show between the two. We’re going back to DLR this winter, and not disappointed that WOC won’t be playing. We love CA pier & rides at night, and glad they won’t be shut down.

We just saw WOC for the first time this past week and loved it! We thought it was a really great show, something a little different instead of the usual fireworks. I agree that the lack of a plot was sort of strange, but I thought the effects were so good that it didn't bother me.

I liked it a lot better than Fantasmic!, but that might be that I've seen F! so many times and WOC was brand new for me. We see F! at least once a month at DHS because we constantly have friends and family down and this is the one show everyone wants to see - so it's a little old for us. Everyone said the one at DL would be so much better, and we did really like the scene on the Sailing Ship Columbia, but other than that, it was a very similar show. So WOC one out this time!

WOW, i totally disagree, we did the AG dinner package for WoC and i was blown away at how awesome it was, the next night we watched F! and just laughed at how cheesy it was compared to WoC. Different strokes for different folks i guess. i cant wait to see WoC again in August, but will definetly be passing on F!

I agree w/ PP, we go to WDW every year and finally saw Fantasmic after much hype and good reviews from friends, and seeing it once was enough for me. It was good but myself and DH agreed that we were not as impressed as we thought we would be. If we had kids, we'd see it but it didn't appeal to us. On the other hand, WOC looks amazing and I can't wait to check it out over Labor Day!!

The huge sway in preference is impressive with these two shows. Perhaps that indicates how different they really are.

I would have to disagree as well. WOC was amazing!! The saturation of color the LED lights gave the water was stunning (looked like paint) and the combination of lasers, water screens and music gave a show that captures the essence of Disney. The show itself showcases moments from Disney movies that are related to water, therefore it's a collection of vignettes. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Even my husband who hates waiting for shows, rides, etc. said the 2 hour wait was worth it. I give it two

We saw fantasmic on Monday, world of color on Tuesday. The two junior high girls I was with enjoyed fantasmic, but their faces really lit up as they recognized their favorite movies during world of color. What we really lucked out on was the people around us as we waited for woc. Very friendly people who loved Disney as much as we do, and spent the time discussing Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and disneyworld. The half an hour we waited for the second showing of fantasmic felt much longer than two with our woc group. We really lucked out. We did preferred dining and had a perfect view, I can't wait to go again. I didn't mind the lack of a plot, as the whole show I was completely wowed.

I LOVE Fantasmic, but I thought that The World Of Color was amazing. I just think that the colors are sooo cool and you could actually see how they used professional dancers to create the movements in the fountains.

All of them wanted to see Fantasmic! again. And they all thought it was worth the wait.

Our kids really liked WOC but they loved the Glow show! They really enjoyed the dancing.

Just saying, DL's Fantasmic is leaps and bounds better than DHS's version. You cannot compare the dragons at all and the Peter Pan scene at DL's is far superior to the Pocahontas. Plus there's more of a charm of it being on the Rivers of America rather than just in another stadium.

As for the WoC vs. Fantasmic debate, I really like both! WoC was new and I loved the scale of the show. I could appreciate the time and effort that it took to program everything. Fantasmic, for me, is the essence of Disney magic. It definitely has some of the "how'd they do that" effect. It's so hard for me to pick a winner. Some nights I might want to see one, and on others I'll see the other one.

Also, some people are complaining about waiting 2 hours for WoC. I saw people (actually quite a few) yesterday waiting at the Rivers of America at 6:00 for the 9:00 Fantasmic... No thanks. I'd rather see the 10:30 show and wait for less than an hour. WoC you will have to wait about 2 hours if you want a good spot at the 9:00. For the later shows I'm assuming you don't have to wait as long but still probably somewhere around an hour to an hour and a half. So for both shows you will have to wait a long time...it's not just WoC.

I could not agree more with the above. I call the DHS Fantasmic the JV and the DL Fantasmic the Varsity.

Saw the new dragon last week. AMAZING! Loved it.

We also loved WoC. For me, F! is probably superior because of Mickey and seeing him dance on top at the end with the fireworks and stuff... well, it's just magical. But WoC was wonderful too. F!, Fireworks, and WoC are all must sees for me for each trip. DL is not making it easy to just spend a couple of nights there!
