Ok I read some of the WOC thread and was not impressed by the dinner reviews. I thought this would be a fun option to get a good spot for the show but I am leary of spending that much and ending up with a bad meal and you can never be guaranteed a good spot for the show. The cold meal doesn't look that appetizing, the only one we would go with is possibly the chicken but my mom is diabetic so I don't think that will work.

If you loved doing this pcg. or hated it please tell me why so I can decide, Thanks;)

OR, you can have one person take your Annual Pass/Tickets to the fastpass machines early in the morning
- stand in line for 2 - 10 minutes
- spend no money
- then eat whatever and whenever want. popcorn::

I just did Ariel's dining last night and my family really liked it. Would we do it again? Maybe not because of the price. But we were celebrating DDad's birthday and it was a fun treat.

We all enjoyed our food (2 prime ribs-loved the seasoning!, the malfade pasta, and the chicken). The appetizer that we got (cheese and veggies) had a wide variety so that there was something for everyone. And the desserts were very tasty too (the chocolate molten mini cake was such chocolate yumminess!)

As for the view, it's really a great view if you show up about an hour before show time. The front of the preferred dining section is very immersive but you still get to experience the scope and broadness of the whole thing. Also, if you don't want to show up an hour early, the preferred dining section definitely fills up slower than the other color sections.

Well your only other option for WOC, is the fast pass. You can get to DCA when it opens, rush over and get a FP and pray to the heavens above that you don't get the red section( that is the worst section, you dont want it) an then come back at the time specified on your fast pass and wait for maybe 30 min or so till you are able to go into your section.

I have had the Picnic, I had the vegetarian one. I loved every bite of it! I got yellow section, and I was super happy to have it! I would do the Picnic again, it was worth the price for me.Actually my Bf was the one that did the ordering and picking of the picnics up, we ate ours at night as a dinner and it worked great! and he said that it was a piece of cake picking them up..

What you will find is that some diser's have done the pre-fix meals and some have done the picnic, we all have our own opinion, and so I would not let one review of the pre-fix meals ruin it for you, just like DLR29 review, I have also heard that the meals are really good.

We did Ariel's back in October and really liked it. That said, we wouldn't do it again. I don't think the preferred section is the best.

We would do the picnic next time. I think it is a much better value and I think the sections that are offered are actually better thant the preferred section.

Again, just my humble opinion..ymmv. :thumbsup2

We did Ariel's in October for the preferred section tickets and it was great! The food was really good (I had the fish) and the service was great as well! We really enjoyed the dessert!!!

I thought the spot we had was absolutely perfect! We were dead center up on some stairs so we had no blocked view.

I would do it again in a heartbeat!

We did the picnics (one chicken, one pb&j) and loved them. We both agreed we would order the meals again, with or without the show.

Thanks everyone, I think we are going to do Ariels but I would still like opinions.:thumbsup2

Is the soonest to order 30 days? :rolleyes1

Also does it show every night? We are going end of April and there is nothing on the calendar yet.:)

Ok just so I understand this I need to clairfy. My daughter and I are going in Dec for her 21st birthday. We have gone every year for our birthdays (2 days apart) since she was 8. Ok now my question

If I make reservations and get dinner at Ariels we get to sit down and watch the WOC show while we are eatting correct? I broke my ankle in Oct and I cant stand that long so I definelty need to sit.

No. There is no seating for World of Color. If you get the dinner at Ariel's, you will eat dinner before the show and they will give you a pass to let you stand in the preferred area afterward. Sorry :(

There is, however, a wheelchair section, so if the pain is such that you must rent a wheelchair and get a Guest Assistance Card, you could be in the wheelchair in that section. That would mean you wouldn't really have to pay for the Ariel's dinner since you wouldn't be standing in the preferred section anyway. You could just get a free Fastpass from the machine.

You would not want to watch it from Ariel's anyway, worst area to sit because you get wet from the fountains, and worst view to, you see everything from the side..

Thanks for answering!! Ok so what is the best way to go about getting a good spot to watch it? Is the dinner still the best way? I dont mind buying dinner (we have to eat anyway) to get the pass if thats the best way to get a good place to stand. And yes I may end up renting a wheelchair. Will try to avoid it if I can because to me thats just a pain. And I still have several months to heal so hopefully I wont need it.

Well, like I was saying, if you rent a wheelchair then you don't need to spend $40 on the dinner because you wouldn't end up standing in the preferred area anyway; You'd be in the wheelchair viewing area.

If you ARE going to be standing, then the dinner will get you a spot standing in the preferred area. If you don't want to spend that much, you can pay for a picnic which will get you a fastpass for the blue or yellow viewing areas. If you don't want to pay for anything at all, you can also get a blue, yellow, or red fastpass absolutely free from the Fastpass machine the day of the show. The free FP's come from the Grizzly River Run machines. Blue and yellow are better than red and are distributed in that order, so the sooner you get your pass, the better your viewing area. Sometimes there are more than one show, in which case they give out all the FP's for the first show, then all the FP's for the second.

So, to summarize:

Best viewing area - dinner package only
Blue and yellow areas - picnic or fastpass machine in the morning
Red - fastpass machine only

The journey doesn't end with the fastpasses though. You'll still have to line up in advance of the show to ensure you get a good spot.

There is a LOT to know about WOC, so please check out this superthread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2443719

Oh perfect thank you for the viewing chart. So its all just people standing, so if Im short (and I am) Im only gonig to the heads of people in front of me unless I am lucky enough to get a spot at the rail? And I know about rude people sneeking in. My daughter and I always sit down on the sidewalk for the parade early. It never fails there is someone who wants to sit on our lap right before it starts.

The fatal flaw of World of Color's design unfortunately. I have seen WOC five times now because I am a SoCal resident and go often. Because I know I always have the opportunity to come back another day, I don't get too upset when someone puts their kids on their shoulders in front of me or if I'm stuck behind a light pole, etc. If, however, I was from out of town making a rare trip, I'd be :mad::mad: about the situation. You just have to line up about an hour early, head for the rail, and be firm and STAY THERE. Don't let people muscle you out of a good spot once you have one.

Thank you so much sonnyjane! I think I got it now! Between your info and the viewing chart I have a plan! Again thank you soooo much!

oh..this sounds stressful, something I try to avoid in theme parks...;) from the bit of reading I've done on the other thread links, it appears there are a few places to watch, farther back, but still good viewing, and you don't have to take your life in your hands?
those would be fine for me:thumbsup2
Is it worth it to buy a picnic dinner? Or will we have just as much stress in the process of going that route as getting to DCA early and grabbing fp's?
I'm looking for decent views, no struggles!
(at WDW, we tend to find the least popular spots for parades and fireworks, and still get a great view, mostly to ourselves...we are 'avoid the crowd' kind of people.....)

You will not need any luck if you plan it right.

1. Arrive at least 60 minutes early - I would say 90 minutes - in the queueing area.

2. Know where you want to go for a good view - see "The Best World of Color Viewing Spots" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2655956

3. Go there

4. Hold onto it - coach your group to work together to hold your spot
