I agree with Stacy 6552 - we would not go back to the Wyndham Palace. I'd sure like to compare notes with you Stacy and hear your experience. Here's ours . . .
Won Wyndham Palace on Priceline, 2 rooms for $63 per nite each, 4 nights, 8/26 - 8/30. Checked in late on 8/26 . Tried to get them to waive the resort fee ($10 per night, per room), on at least one of the rooms. Wouldn't waive it. Inquired what the "resort fee" covered and was told newspapers (don't care to read their local news, I'm from CT and on vacation), in room coffee/tea (my kids in room #2 don't drink coffee/tea or read the newspaper), spa line bath products (soap, shampoo & condition, with a fancy name, nothing great), most hotels do provide shampoo, conditioner & soap, use of the recreation island and towels at the pool (should be offering towels at the pool anyway), read something about fruit at the pool (never found this), use of the business center (owned by Pitney Bowes, and they charge you for internet use and to print off pages. I went down at 7:00 a.m. on day I was checking out and wanted to go online to check-in on my airline and print off boarding passes and was under the impression it was free to do this since I paid the resort fee.
But it gets even better - when we opened the door to room #1, we were overwhelmed by a mold smell in the room. After sniffing around we found the smell coming from the air conditioning vent on the wall above the bed. I stood on the bed and breathed in the moldy air and could actually see stuff (mold/dust?) on the walls of the vent box. Called the front desk and requested to be moved to another room. They moved us down the hall, but now we were at the opposite end of the hallway from room #2 where my son & brother-in-law were staying. Room #2 also had a funny smell, but not as bad as our first room. Requested they move room #2 closer to our new room so son would be next door or closer than he was and they did move them 4 doors away from our new room.
Both our new rooms were right near the elevators and the hallway in front of the elevators had marble floors which meant we could hear everyones heals tapping quite loud as they walked to the elevator. Hallway was noisy with echos.
Blankets on bed were fraying and ripped, sheets were clean but had old stains on them that probably wouldn't come out in the wash. And the one strange thing was that every morning my son woke up with numerous bug bites either on a leg/foot/elbow or arm, bites that weren't there during the day or before he went to bed. My answer to him was maybe he let a mosquito in the room when he opened the patio door at night? Funny thing though, my brother-in-law did not get bit at all.
I'm not a very hard person to please. I've stayed at All Stars and Port Orleans resorts but the Wyndham Palace is suppose to be a "Resort" level, above a 4* and I was not happy with it at all.
Other than issues with the Wyndham, our trip was great and we had a lot of fun. I did like being able to walk across the street to DTD and we did go there to pick up Disney buses to some of their resorts to look around and eat dinner. We took the bus from the Wyndham once to Blizzard Beach and it took forever.
Any other questions, please feel free to ask.
