Hi everyone. My dh and I (no kids) are planning our early-December 2003 trip and it's looking like WL this time. My only concern is the noise. I posted a question about noise a while ago and several posters said that WL was a noisy resort. Is this the case for all room locations? From what I've been reading here, it seems that there are woodsview rooms in the north wing that are quiet. Yes? No? Maybe? All help is appreciated.

For noise-level-tolerance reference purposes: We stayed at ASMu this January and the in-room noise level there was unacceptable (I hardly slept) ... then moved to AKL, where we had a very quiet room (aah! heaven!), but we switched rooms at AKL because the first room they put us in was far too loud (it was quite near the lobby and had lots of corridor noise). BTW, the front desk at AKL gave us a new room location immediately.

Thanks for all the input.

Request a room near the end of the north wing. You'll get little foot traffic, and you're far away from the elevators and ice machine. You'll be able to see the Otter Pond and be near a stairway (request the 2nd or 3rd floor) that'll give you a quick route to the pool and the boat landing.

Hi,
We're staying at WL for our first time this trip! I hope it's quiet, too!

If you're considering changing resorts, we stayed at CR in mid-Aug (peak season) 2 yrs ago. We had a garden room looking at MK, it was very quiet. It was nice cause we could see the fireworks from our window.

Last trip we were in the South Wing, 3rd floor, in the corner over the cubs den. We had a view of the trees, bits of WLV. It was very pretty and very quiet.

Geoff: Thanks for the advice. That's sort of what I was gathering from other posts, but I wanted to double check.

Kimberle: I wish we could spring for the CR, but I think it's probably out of our price range. I just looked on mousesavers and noticed that there are somewhat lower-priced rooms referred to as "standard garden wing"--is that the type of room you had? I hadn't even considered staying at the Contemp. Thanks for your input. Have fun at WL--I see you'll be there quite soon!

PrincessAurora: Thanks to you too. I'm happy to hear "quiet" stories about WL!

Yes, we were in the Standard Garden wing. There is a boat from WL to CR. You'll have to take it one night, go to the Concource Steakhouse for dinner or something. The food is wonderful.

Then you'll know if you'd like to stay there next trip!

WL & CR are right accross the lake from each other.

We spent 7/7 to 7/11 at WL and never noticed or had any problem with the noise factor. Our room was 5028, near the elevator and that WAS not a problem or did we notice any hall traffic to speak of.. We will request this room on future visits. We are puzzled by some of the WL posts on noise as we do not go to the parks everyday. We did not experience any noise level that was unacceptable. We live close by WDW and that offers us the opportunity to go parks at a slower time.

If you decide to go towards Bay Lake, you will not see the Otter Pond from Room #010 to the end. If seeing the pond is important item you have to be towards the North Wing A & B intersection.

Go to WL FAQ and read my WL Report 1,2,3,4 and many of your questions will be answered. We stayed in many NW National Park Lodges and WL is on par with them in

Hi again everyone, and thanks to all of you.

FloridaCat: I'm on my way over to the FAQ to read your posts there. And how did you know we wanted a view of the Otter Pond? You must be psychic!

BTW, as long as you mentioned it, are the rooms on the lower (lowest?) floors as quiet as rooms on, say, the 5th floor? I'm wondering about this, since it seems the otter view would be better from a lower (ground?) floor. Don't know if there are ground-floor rooms at WL--at AKL the rooms on the bottom floor are really the 2nd floor.

I'm off to FAQville. I love the WDW planning stage!

Now all I need are the AP rates for early December.

First floor units have patios, having said that, I am not sure what the Woodsview have on the first floor as it can not be seen from the outside. The upper floors, Standard and Woodsview allow most rooms to see MK fireworks show.

As I have already stated, the question of quiet. This is a resort and people are on vacation and coming and going. Is it like my patio at home, no? However, my DD thought it was more peaceful then her Condo in Orlando. There are certain things one must facture in when traveling. I guess what I am saying is if there is a drunken party next door, I am on the phone to the front desk.

Hi again FloridaCat. I've been reading the WL FAQ...and loving it!

I know what you mean about drunken parties. What I was most concerned with was just plain old room-to-room and hallway-to-room noise levels. When we checked into AKL in January, they initially gave us a room on the 3rd floor very close to the lobby. There was just too much hallway traffic for me. The front desk was exceptionally accommodating and moved us to a room that was at the end of a hallway on the 4th floor (the lobby's on the 3rd floor) and it was great. Occasionally we'd hear someone walking by, but we heard nothing from the adjacent rooms. And our savannah view was superb.

At ASMu, otoh, we heard EVERYTHING that was going on in the adjacent rooms. I won't go into the details. I realize now that we may have had a room there that had a connecting door to another room. It never even occurred to me at the time. Also, of course, the "hallway" noise at ASMu is much louder than AKL (or WL, I'm sure) since there are exterior cement walkways there, not an interior carpeted corridor. Big difference.

Thanks again for your input.
