We have a reservation for June 2006 at the WL - Courtyard view to please DH.
DH said he would do WL even though transportation is buses - minus the boat to MK and CR. DH said at least we are close to MK.

If an AP rates only come out for AKL and not WL for the end of June till just after 4th of July 2006 -
How can I convince my DH to stay at AKL for 14 nights if the transportation is only buses ?

We have stayed at the Dolphin (teacher rate) - when my DS & DD were younger and would sleep together - way back in 2001.
DH liked the boat to MGM and EPCOT (plus walking to it)

Two years later we stayed at the CR with an AP discount and my DD slept on the daybed. We got bumped the tower with a view of MK and the parking lot. DH fell in love with the ease of the monorail transportation.

For 14 nights - even with an AP rate, I think staying at the CR, GF or Poly will break our budget. We are doing 14 nights for our 21st wedding anniversary celebration - July 1, 2006.

Now our DS is a teen and DD is a tween. No way will they sleep together.
Reason for bunk beds (day bed resorts are out of our budget, I think).

So - How do I convince DH to stay at AKL with an AP rate (hopefully in the low $200 range) vs WL with only an AAA rate ($311 including taxes) - if only AKL has AP rates next year ?

Thanks for your help !

Well lets start off by saying I did not really like WL when we stayed there. The boat is nice but for us, the bus transportation was really bad. We waited up to 45 minutes for one. Now others will say they didn't have a problem.
We have stayed at AKL with the bunk beds as our 2, both girls do not like to sleep together. Bus transportation was very efficient but we did miss the boats just cause they're fun. We like to stay at POR or FQ for that reason.
But I just loved the AKL resort as compared to WL and would gladly give up the boat for it.

Just be prepared at both WL and AKL to not get bunk beds. They are a request only. One time I did not get them at WL (of two times). And yes, I have a boy and a girl too.

Well, the transport IMHO at AKL was amoung the best in the resort. The few times I have attempted to take the boats the waits have been long and SLOW! Disney can move a LOT more buses in to relieve crowding then boats!

Bunks are a request only-I requested them-didn;t get them at WL-still LOVED the resort though. Fifth floor excellent courtyard view. I stayed at WL this July, resort was full every night, yet had NO problem whatsoever with transportation. The buses were great and we loved the boat, never had to wait longer then maybe 5 minutes for it and the breeze from the lake is very refreshing.
You will not be guaranteed bunks at either resort. Each resort is close to something and each is far from something. Since your going for 14 days, why not split the stay if possible? Get the best of both worlds.

Are you aware that both WL & AKL have bunk bed rooms? From what I understand, WL no longer offers bunk beds (or smoking rooms) in the standard room category. That might make WL a little more pricey.

We've never stayed at AKL, but did WL last March. The rooms are very small there. 14 days is quite a long stay - have you thought about splitting your stay between a couple of resorts?

I've stayed at both and just got back from WL.. Both are very nice. The transportation at AKL is the best- the buses are never shared and even though you may be a few more miles away you will be there faster because the buses come quickly and there is only one stop. The boat at WL is for FUN only. As for transportation, the boat is awful- read 30 minutes to get to the hotel once we got on the boat!! It goes to Ft Wilderness before WL for part of the day and it is NOT a fast boat. During my 9 days there, I went on the boat 3 times, mainly for the sightseeing aspect. Buses at WL were in general good, but we did stop at the grand floridian sometimes before going to a park. Going to epcott, they always seemed to go to ft wilderness and it took a about 30 minutes total to get there. If transportation is a major issue, then AKL would be my choice.
