Just trying to picture the WL Villas in my mind. Are they completely separate from the WL? They look beautiful. If we decide to stay at WL, will we be able to check out the villas (from the outside) or it fenceds off, completely separate from the hotel?

The villas are in a seperate building from the main lodge. They are beyond beautiful IMO. There is no fencing so yes, you can walk into the main atrium of the villas. Its very pretty. To your left you will see the elevator doors, there is also a game alcove with a fireplace, big comfy leather couches, tables with games (checkers) and rocking chairs. In front you will see the entrance to the health club. Not sure how you go about touring one of the rooms. You check in at the main lodge just as you would if you were staying at the Lodge. The villas use all the lodges amenities. Once inside the main lodge you bear (no pun intended) to your right past the merchantile and walk down a covered pathway and you're at the villas building.

Everything eliza said and..........
you can walk directly from the main WL lobby, out the door to a connected, covered walkway that leads to the Villas. No fences as she stated.

you would make some WL guests mad if you put up a fence. the gym (where both wl and VWL guest use) is on VWL property.

The villas may not be fenced off, but unlike the other villas, like BCV and BWV, you can't really walk around the perimeter of the building much at all. The landscaping comes up fairly close and there aren't sidewalks past the ones that lead into the atrium. But you can certainly go inside and view the lobby/atrium area and see where the health club is.

1) The Villas' main areas are open to the public.

2) You can go into the lobby and the health club.
3) You can also enter the Iron Spike Room.
4) They have two rail cars from Walt's own backyard train
5) If you want to see a room, ask at the WL Front Desk.
6) If they have one available and a CM has time, they will show you.

Having stayed at VWL in January, I felt a little separated from the Lodge itself. We were in a ground floor room and that might have been part of the problem. Looked out of our room onto a little lawn area and a service road. I love the WL and I really think this is one of the resorts where it really makes a difference if you are staying in the main lodge area. The rooms there especially on the upper floors must have incredible views of either the pool area or the lake. Maybe if we had been on the top floor at VWL it would have made a difference. Inside, the room was very nice and the staff could not have been nicer or more accomodating. I still think the lobby at WL is outstanding. A definite WOW when you enter, especially at holiday time with all the holiday decor. It is a spectacular building.
