I have been thinking about planning a trip for late next year, but want an extended stay. I really want to stay at the WL, but paying for the view is questionable. If I go and stay there, it will be 10 nights or more. Is the standard view at the WL worth it, or a waterview at one of the moderates?

I do think the view is worth it at the WL. Relaxing on the balcony looking at the great view was one of the best parts of our WL stay. You don't have to get the most expensive courtyard view, though. The woods views are really nice and peaceful and less expensive. I will usually go ahead and pay for the view at the deluxes because we always like to enjoy our balcony. I would never pay extra for a special view at the moderates. You don't have a balcony, so unless you are going to spend a lot of time standing in front of the window, you won't even notice the view from your room.

Yes! It's definitely worth it!! We loved our courtyard view room. At night we could watch the Electric water parade from our balcony, it was so muh fun. Then we would leave our sliding door cracked open and fall asleep to the sound of the waterfall in the courtyard- it was sooo relaxing. During the day we could watch the geyser go off and the view is just beautiful. I wouldn't stay anywhere else at the WL, it was wonderful.

We spent 7 nights at the WL in the summer of 2002. It was an awesome hotel. Usually we stay at a moderate but for a rate of $129 per night for a standard room we went for it. We booked standard view but were upgraded to a courtyard view free of charge. I would stay at the WL again in a minute. Personally, I never pay for a view. We are not the type to sit around on the balcony and relax. We spend most of our time at the parks so I can't justify the extra expense for the view. If you get the chance to stay at the lodge go for it. Check the thread for the WL. It has alot of good information on it regarding all of the different room locations and such. I hope we will be back to the Lodge in the summer of 2003!

We had a code and paid $144 for a woodsview room. It was worth it-we had a view of the pond and watched the turtles and otters swimming. Like others, I would not pay for a waterview at a moderate.

The views at the WL are breathtaking. We had a courtyard view and even though we had heard negative reviews of the enclosed balconies we absolutely loved ours. However, in my opinion, I'd much rather have a water view at one of the moderates than have to look at the parking lot. We always pay for a water view and we spend lots of time out by the railing. If there's room we have even taken chairs and sat out there just so could enjoy the view. And we always pay for the better view. We've never gotten a free upgrade so I would never count on getting one.

I'm beginning to think more seriously about WL, thanks to you all. As to the water-view at the mods....we have gotten them in the past, and am in fact, booked for one at CBR this summer. But, I don't think they are really worth it. We normally keep our curtains closed when we're in the room due to the foot traffic. And most of the water-views aren't that terrific to begin with. So, if we decide to stay with CBR I'll be changing to a standard room. But, getting closer and closer to jumping ship over to WL.

Goofy4tink I know the feeling. I have a room booked at CBR for two weeks this June with a waterview room. I wonder if it is worth it too! I really love the look of WL and am fighting paying $3600 for the two week period. I wish those AP discounts would hurry and come out because that would make my decision for me!

Just wanted to voice another opinion in favor of the great courtyard view at WL. I loved going out onto the balcony at different times of the day and enjoying the scenery plus hearing the piped in music floating up. It was so peaceful looking out onto the lagoon and watching the boats. It was awesome sitting on our balcony and watching the water pageant too. We stayed 8 nights in a courtyard room last year and I'm sure 2 more would have been grand too!
