I was curious about upgrades at WL. I was on the phone confirming my reservation at the WL, and the person I spoke with mentioned that standard rooms tend to be sold out at the WL. I was curious if WL tends to oversell standard rooms, thus making upgrades more common?

I was interested in your experiences.

So has anyone gotten an upgrade from a standard room? I am sure someone has gotten an upgrade, please share details.

Given the limited number of standard rooms and the number of people I see posting about upgrades to woods and courtyard views, I would say that they probably do overbook the standards and then upgrade when they are booked up.

I would, however, remember that this is no guarantee that you will be upgraded. If a woods view or courtyard view is a 'must' for you than I would go ahead and book it. If you are ok with a standard, with the possability of an upgrade then stick with what you have.

I booked a woods view for my first stay at WL next month, because I really didn't want a 'standard' view room, I like to sit on the balcony and enjoy some scenery other than the parking lot:p . But, many people don't care, cuz they 'just sleep there'. It's just a matter of making sure you are guaranteed what you want and then hoping for a little pixie dust to make it even more magical.

I think WL tends to upgrade more than most resorts. I have been upgraded from standard to courtyard two out of the three times I have stayed there. This last time I had a standard but my view was of the castle and I could watch the fireworks from my balcony. Also saw the otter pond and the otters playing. However, if I looked down and to the left I saw a parking lot, so I didn't look that way.:D

Yes, we were upgraded for free to courtyard view. We went on the armed forces salute and were upgraded at check-in without asking for it. We had a great view overlooking the pool from the 6th floor. It was great too because there was an elevator that came down right next to roaring forks. We never used the lobby elevators. We were also close to the pool and the boat dock. Very convenient to everything. Whispering Canyon was a hoot.

We were at the WL this past July. We booked 2 standard rooms. When we checked in the CM said that we had been upgraded to Courtyard (both rooms of course).

We were upgraded too!! I never asked for an upgrade and was quite suprised when we got to our room and it was a courtyard view!! The CM checking us in didn't tell me we were upgraded. However, considering this is our favorite resort, I would have gladly slept in the lobby if there would have been no rooms available!! LOL I have again booked a standard room for our upcoming trip and again have no expectations that we will again be upgraded to a better room. However, I can always hope!!
