How bad is the transportation at the Wilderness? I hear just wonderful reviews about the resort, so we wanted to maybe give it a try, but I am worried about the transportation. That's my biggest fear in trying the resort. We are going during spring break so I know it will be a madhouse.

I guess it depends on what you consider 'bad'...For some who are never satisfied and require instant gratification 24/7, everything WDW transportation related is 'bad'.

You have both WDW bus and WDW Watercraft transportation options. As long as you allow enough time for travel using WDW transportation, you should be fine.

For additional information, see the Transportation forum here and also do a search on allearsnet.com for transportation.

We detested the transportation from WL. Let me add that I am a HUGE fan of disney transportation and have relied on it exclusively for all of our 10 trips. We have stayed at Port Orleans, All Star, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Old Key West and Wilderness. The ONLY place that I felt the transportation was bad was at the Wilderness. We finally figured out to take the little boat over to the Contempary and using their transportation. The resort was lovely but I will Never stay there again because of the transportation.

We have spent well over 6 stays here and its like the other poster stated: people just want too much and are always in a hurry. We found the service a welcome relief from driving. Granted in some of our stays the bus seemed to take forever but watching the time, most late ones were 20 plus minutes. The boat to MK, FW and CR works just fine, just allow the travel time. We usually have no great park plans so we usually just catch the first bus that pulls in and head on out. We have AP's so park hopping is part of our creed.

I've read too much on bad transportation, service, mousekeeping, rude CM's, bed bugs, theft, mug police, pool hoppers, no towel animals, dirty room and have only, in 39 visits, sampled a hand full in all that time. People post negativity more than praise, easier to complain then thank I guess. There are some resorts I won't stay at, not because of service, its that I just don't care for them, physical layout or looks or location, nothing to do with personnel or service. We learned long ago to take Disney in little bites, don't expect everything you read on these boards and not to schedule yourself into a frantic, commando vacation. Don't get all wound up over a certain room location or view, you don't go to Holiday Inn and request room numbers and locations, there is enough to see and do to fill a life time on property and sitting a few minutes waiting for free transportation to anywhere in WDW is just a drop in the bucket.

We have been to the WL every June for the past several years. So it is a pretty busy time. We have never had any major issues with the bus or boat transportation. Our wait is usually 5-10 minutes. There have been occasions when our wait has been 20-25 minutes, but those are few and far between. Now I will say the DTD bus usually seems to take the longest to arrive. But from what I have read, it seems most resorts have problems with the DTD bus. We have always had good luck cathcing the boats too. Never a long wait.:)

That may be because it is a LONG ride to DTD from the WL!

Last year we checked out the lobby and the grounds so we could get a few pictures for when we suprise our God Son in December and we took the bus to DTD afterwards.....
We drove, and drove and drove. I think they took the Ultra Scenic route ;)
we were not in a rush so it was not a big deal, but I would hate to have to stand the whole time. (especially after a long day of power shopping ;-)

I love Disney Transportation, not having to drive during our vacations is one of the perks we love.

Thank you all for your opinions. Our last stay was at the Poly - which we absolutely loved. Now for that bus transportation sometimes we waited 2 minutes and one or two times we waited maybe 10 at the most. Some people think 10 is a long time to wait. I personally, do not. I think we waited longer at MGM to come back to the Poly one time. They may have been 20 minutes. Again, not really that big of deal.

So, if that it was I can expect at the WL, we may want to give it a try. I just read on these boards that the transportation is so bad that I didn't think it would be a good fit for our family. But, a lot of you right when you say - it depends on what you consider bad is.

It pretty much sounds like every hotel - some times are great - the 1 to 2 minutes and sometimes it can be 10 to 15 or a little longer.
