Hi there - DH and I were talking about a 5-day trip to WDW in Dec, but then FTP package - so want to do 7-nights in Sept.

Should we do Wilderness Lodge or All Star Sports? I have read some things about getting from WL to parks other than MK taking a long time on the busses. Is this true?

What are your experiences? Difference over 7 nights is about $640.

Thanks - Mary

We had a looooong ride everywhere from WL. It's the one thing that took away from our trip. But it's still WL... so what could be bad about that!!!!

There did seem to be some issues with WL transportation some time ago, but as of the last few months, I haven't heard anything negative.

We went for 2 weeks during Christmas/NYE and we thought the transportation was just about as good as it could be. There were very few times that we waited more than 5 minutes for a bus. Other than staying at a monorail resort ( and even those have some bus rides) WL is as good or better than any other resort as far as transportation goes. I wouldn't let worries about transportation bother you.

If my choice was WL or All Stars, it wouldn't be a choice at all. Hands down, WL is much nicer!:D

WL or AS I'd do Wl in a minute.I have never had great experiences with WL busses, but I have learned to plan for that. Be sure to allow an hour for anything you must be at for a specified time and you should be fine. Boat transport to MK is great. The busses share with the campground so that can make for crowded transportation early in the morning. I love WL but I'm not a fan of their bus transportation!

Yeah.. I should clarify. If my choice was AS Sports or WL... it would be WL handsdown too. We've stayed at both. Last April.. in WL.. the transportation was bad. It took quite awhile to get places, because they seemed to fill up WL, the Villas, and the campground. After all that.. it seemed forever. At All Stars.. if a bus fills up.. another is very quickly to follow. I didn't find that at WL either.

However... that being said... WL wins handsdown.

We stayed at WL in Nov. 2001 and didn't have a single problem with transportation. The morning we went to AK we waited about 10 minutes. That was our longest wait. The rest of the trip the buses were usually waiting on us when we got there. I felt sorry for the people at the Poly because there was very little room on our bus for them once we stopped to pick up at the Poly.

I'd pick WL in a heartbeat. In fact, we just got back from WL and didn't have any problem with transportation (boat only). We found that the boats to the CR and the MK would come within a minute of each other so if one was crowded we'd just wait for the other. The MK boat is bigger than the one to the CR but this was only an issue if our DD was sleeping in her stroller. On the MK boat the stroller can be pushed right on and off but on the boat to the CR we didn't feel safe doing that. We didn't use the buses since we enjoyed the boat and monorail so much and just went to MK and Epcot. We never waited more than a few minutes for a boat at either the CR or MK.

I second CEDmom's response. We stayed there this past Jan. and we would take the boat to the CR and then hop on the monorail. Was much quicker then the buses the majority of the time.
