WL tips and secrets?

We are staying at WL for the first time this Dec., and while we've been there for dinner we've not seen a great deal of the hotel. Any tips on things we shouldn't miss would be greatly appreciated. We're excited about the Christmas decor.

You can request to be the Flag Family if not going to the parks at opening! Ask for a guide to the hidden Mickeys at the resort a bunch of fun. Be sure to check out the WVL lobby for some of the hidden Mickeys. You willl have a great time there I am sure. Just enjoy the total ambiance of the resort at this magical time.

I just watched an episode of "Great Hotels" Disney's Wilderness Lodge on the travel channel today... It was awesome...only problem is Dec seems soooooooo far away

Oooohhhh! I hope you get lots of replies. We are staying at the WL for the first time next June. Our stay is for 10 days with two of those just lazing around the resort. Come on disboard members.....give us some good tips!

We will be staying @ WL for T'giving. It will be our first trip around the Holidays and our first time in a Courtyard View room. We stayed in a Woods View room last time and had a great view of the monorail from the CR and a view of the fireworks! We also stayed 10 nights last time, and were able to be the Flag Family! That was awesome! Ranger Stan was great and we got a cute Magical Moment certificate! I was also abe to take some great pics up that high! I have one of the WL CY and Pool area as my screen saver now! We also really enjoyed renting bikes and riding over to Fort Wilderness! We even saw a deer on the way over. I hope you get a lot of responses! I also would love any info on WL!

We have been to WL about 4 times now and we are official DVC'ers and of course we choose VWL. We have a lot of fun just relaxing, especially since we have visited often, each trip gets a bit more relaxed and more fun.

After getting to your room or if your luggage hasn't arrived yet..head down to the beach, kick your shoes off and play in the sand for about an hour.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is great...make sure you ask for ketchup because they don't put it on all the tables there for some reason.

At the little counter server cafe (name? hum) try the Apple/Chicken Salad...it's the one of the best salads I've ever had. Tillanook cheese and all!!!

Check out the balconies on different floors around the atrium entrance. There are shadowboxes filled with geological artifacts and misc Indian items (headdresses, etc.)

Snap a Pic at the Mickey Totem pole by the Mercantile.

On the boardwalk to the boat launch keep your eyes peeled for otters...especially along the shoreline on the way to MK and the boat dock. You may need to be patient before seeing one...but they are there.

Be sure to rub Humphrey's nose for good luck. We take a picture of the kids standing beside the Merchantile Totem Pole each visit. It is sort of a "Measuring Stick " to show how much they grew. After a few visits (years) it is fun to compare these. Take time to explore the Lobby and the nooks around the lobby on upper floors.

We were there this past Dec and loved it. The theme of this place in Dec is unlike any other resort. We enjoyed just sitting in the lobby at night, close to the fireplace with a drink in hand just taking it all in.

If you are back at the resort for a break.. you can take your kids to Roaring Forks and the cm's let them decorate cookies with all colors of icing... it was fun and yummy!
