I know this has been asked before... but I am wanting to get input from people who have stayed in WL standard rooms. We are going for Christmas this year and want to experience WL for the holidays. Affording WL in general is gonna be tight, upgrading to a Lodge or Courtyard view will be the straw that breaks our budget. So I need convincing that WL standards are not that bad. We visited the WL on our last trip so we know that it is gorgeous and really want to stay there.

(We are gonna use our AAA discount and pray a code/package discount comes out, but we are not planning on it)

I can assure you...the Standard Rooms are not that bad! I have stayed in a standard room on 2 different trips. Our last trip, we again booked a standard view room, but found out during check-in...that we were upgraded to courtyard view! If you are on a budget, I would stick to the standard view room!

We stayed in a standard room at the WL & it wasn't that bad really. The bad thing was that if I looked directly down from the balcony I would see the smokehouse but the good thing was if I looked across I saw the Contemporary hotel & a small lake. Not bad at all & at night, pretty nice. & anyway we were so happy to be at the WL we didn't mind at all ! We're thinking of going back this Sept. & it'll be a standard room as well !

I am one of those people who don't understand the whole "view" thing. I go to my room to sleep there. If I was going to be at WL for like 2 weeks and thought that I would spend a lot of time sitting on my balcony, then *maybe* I would upgrade.

To me a room is a room. We stayed at WL in December had a standard room and got a great view of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom every night. So I guess what I'm saying is save your $$$ and get a standard room! Think of all those mickey ice cream bars you could buy with a few hundred dollars!:earsgirl:

CBRorBust is right - for our trip in Dec, we stayed at CSR for five days and then WL for four. We had a woods view, which was good, but the room size and two queen beds was what made it worthwhile. We didn't spend much time on the balcony (kinda cold whe we went in Dec) or even at the room. So save your money!

I have always been very pleased with the WL rooms. This past Dec. I booked a woods view on the annual pass rate around $135 a night for Dec. 19-23. We were upgraded to a courtyard view on the 1st floor. Another room we were in had a queen bed and bunk beds. We were very pleased with this room also. I would not hesitate to book a standard view. I have also stayed at the Poly and yes the rooms are larger and they have a daybed, but I prefer WL. I hope to stay at the other deluxe resorts at some time, but WL is always my first choice. WL would also be a fantastic choice for Christmas since it is decorated so beautifully.

the WL is gorgeous no mattter what, only problem with the standard view is that you might have the noise from deliveries in the wee hours of the morning.

I understand that the WL is going to be a stretch for you to afford, but if it is a CHristmas trip, cut out some other christmas expense, and upgrade to Woods view (if you are that worried, stress isnt worth saving money when it comes to vacation) the woods view is about $15 more per night, depending on the season.
unlike the courtyard view which is a bigger jump cost wise.

have fun, you'll have a great tie no matter what view you have!! the WL is sooo magical!! :)

Our WL standard view room was wonderful!! We had a view of trees and just over the top we could see Space Mountain and sometimes little bursts of the fireworks!

I would certainly recommend the WL Standard rooms. We could see monorail, contemporary and the castle! Additionally, when we were there they had a couple of late night events (grad nights maybe?) and we got to see some extra fireworks at around 11 from our balcony. We never heard any deliveries or anything like that, but we were up early and out late.

Thanks so much for making me feel better about a Standard view! Is there a particular floor/side/section in the standard category that I can request to get a MK/Contemporary view?

Thanks!

We've stayed in a standard, woods and courtyard view.

We loved all of them.

If you wish to stay on the side that "faces" the MK, ask for the North wing on check in.

Have a great time!princess:

Oh my gosh, we were there on those dates too, sorry we missed each other! :(

I don't understand the view much, we had I THINK woods views both times, once facing the villas/pool and once facing the castle/pond. They were both great views, but I would try standard just to save some $$$.::yes::
