We will be doing a split stay, 4 nights WL and 3 nights AKL Concierge :Pinkbounc . Last time we were at the WL we had a woods view and we loved our view. If I get the standard view this time will I be disappointed?

Anyone ever get a nice standard view? What room request should I make?

Thanks for your help!!! :goodvibes

I don't believe that you'll feel disappointed. I would, however, stay at the Wilderness Lodge first and then go to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It'll give you something to look forward to. Standard view rooms vary, so I would ask to stay near the front of the lodge. The view isn't great but it's a bit quieter (unless you are over the lobby). Who knows, maybe they'll upgrade you. :)

We had WL standard view once -- it was probably one of the worst rooms in the house, overlooking the loading dock and the smokehouse. The room smelled like hickory smoked bacon all day long.

It was GREAT! :teeth:

We know that there was some early morning activity at the loading dock each morning, but with our slider closed overnight we never heard one little peep. WL is very well thought-out.

We had a standard room over Easter, it was overlooking Otter Pond and was WONDERFULL!! Ask for something there!! :earsboy:

I didn't like my standard view at WL. I will pay for courtyard next time! I think I actually had a woods view - I was ground floor next to the wall around the loading dock, with a view of the otter pond. But I guess I like balconies better, or the fact I was a solo female on the ground floor next to lots of workers/trucks, really turned me off to the room. I wanted a different room but the CM said to give it a try, and it was a very busy week and they were booked solid. So I made do, but I like views with some action - so next time it's courtyard!!! :teeth:

We had a standard view when we were there and it was wonderful. I don't think you will be disappointed at all!

Interesting....we're wondering about upgrading from standard to woods view. All of your thoughts are helpful!

OK - I'll admit it - I really disliked the standard room I was in. I had stayed there several times before and decided on this particular trip to try to save money and booked standard. Our room faced the loading dock area on a low floor and we looked directly out onto a green aluminum-type roof. When we went out on the balcony, we could touch this roof (if we had wanted to) and it was covered in bird poop and yucky bird nests. The hotel was full, but we were able to move to a different standard view room facing the exact same location, however it was higher up and if you didn't look down you didn't have to see this roof. I vowed then NEVER to chance getting a room like that again. It was not worth the money I saved. Lesson learned.

We stayed in a standard view room at WL. The room was very close to the pool. We loved the resort, but we had a hard time getting to sleep most nights because of all the noise and activity surrounding the pool... You might want to request a room that's not too close to the pool/geyser area if you want to be well rested when you hit the parks! :)

wondering about this. This is my first visit to WL so I'm not familiar with where the standard rooms are. Would it be safe to just request a high floor? :flower:

there are some balconies (4th fl, above checkin desk?) that look like they're only about 4ft from roof peaks

I've been the WL 3x. The first 2x it was courtyard view. I spend some time on the balcony and just relax. I love love the view here. It was breathtaking!!! I was enjoy the beaut of nature. Seeing the Gyser, the lake, the pine trees, the pool/hot tub, and I enjoyed folks enjoying themselves, we saw EWP passing by, boats passing by and a small view of the fireworks. I like to be able to see "action."

On our last trip, we had woodsview. It was a big mistake for me. I was facing just trees that looks kind of dead (very tall and very skinny half stripped- not like in Michigan, it looks more like Christmas trees) and looking over the pond, lots of mosquitos. No view of the lake and no view of the fireworks. It was too quiet for me and no "action."

I would never ever stay at WL unless I have the courtyard view. It is so worth it to me.

Would you be disappointed? You may or may not. Some are fine with woodsview and enjoy the view. Some are fine with the std view.
