We got 2 adjoining standard rooms at the WL with queen beds in each room (my kids won't sleep on the top bunk!) I do not know what type of view we have. Will we definately get a view overlooking the service area? Is it terrible? Other than the sevice area, what else can you see?

I too have booked a standard room and am interested in knowing if the view is just awful - not too bad - or just what to expect? Will it ruin my trip when I return to my room and look out at ??????

we're also just booked in a standard
Im thinking we may need to keep the blinds closed and not use the balcony

We have stayed at WL in "standard rooms" 3 times and I have to say the views there were the best of any "standards" we ever had,,,,once they put us in a room that overlooked the Villas while they were under construction. It wasn't noisy and actually I spent one peaceful afternoon sitting on the balcony and watching workmen haul stuff to the upper floors. Once it was one the opposite side of the hotel, and if you looked straight down off the balcony there was some kind of a AC unit directly below....but hey, we were on the 4th floor and who hangs over the side to look straight down?? The view when you looked out was lovely (woods, tree, a sliver of the lake in the distance) and the last time we were back over there looking out at the now completed villas. I didn't sit out any that time because it was pretty chilly, but the view was fine.

I have the worst room assignment luck in the world (WDW and every place else too!!) and we have never gotten a bad view at the WL....can't say the same for the BC, BW, Poly, CB, CSR or AKL....we have had some pretty, ummm, shall we say "unmagic views" at those places (not always, but sometimes). I never complain because when I book a standard view room on an AP discount I don't expect to get what someone paying rack rate for a water view room gets. I just have low expectations and then I never get disappointed!!

Me too.....I'm kinda wondering if I should have booked a woodsview. :confused3 Is standard that bad. I'm already spending $236 a night :earseek: ..what's another $35??

I had a standard view room in 12/02. If I looked down I could see a service road and the smokehouse for whispering canyon(never smelled it though) but when I looked straight ahead I could see CR and just to the left if I looked up a little I could see the top of Cinderella Castle and watch the fireworks. It was fabulous!! :wizard: I wouldn't have traded my view for anything!!

We just got back from WL on Monday with a standard view, room 6052. We were directly across from the smokehouse, with the sliding glass doors to the balcony closed you would hear the trucks reverse beepers going off faintly down below. It didn't bother us at all. We watched the fireworks twice from our balcony. We could see the castle, space mountain and the monorail pulling out of CR. The night time view of the castle changing colors was also a perk. People staying at the Poly concierge lagoon view pay way more money for the same view of the MK.

I seriously doubt it any of the views are that bad! Last year we had standard view room and were upgraded to pool view so cheer up--it could happen to you! We are booked for POR right now but will move to WL if the AP rates are as good as last year. :earboy2:

I have heard a few people say that they had a standard view room over the restaurants so maybe request that you not be on that side of the building.

We've stayed a WL the past 2 years with our 2 DS and have really enjoyed the whole experience. Our rooms were standard, both times on in the west wing (?) -- along the side of the Roarin' Fork and Artists Point. I guess we were lucky with the views, one of the pool and one of the woods, but I'm not sure if it really mattered. We didn't spend much time in the room except for sleep and we felt we were paying for all of the other amenities rather than just a room view, meaning the wonderful pool, access to the ferry to the MK, I guess it's just our favorite.

We loved the WL! We had a standard view booked and asked for a lobby facing room, but unfortunately they could not accomodate that request. We did get an upper floor overlooking the service area another poster described as being across from the smokehouse for WCC. The employees came and went and took their breaks down there, but that was not a problem to us up on the 5th floor. And at night, wow ~~ what a magical view of the CR and part of the fireworks at MK. The only thing I didn't like about that area were the delivery trucks that seemed to go in reverse a lot, because they were often beeping. With the sliders closed we couldn't really hear it much, but with them open you could.

I wouldn't have wanted to have a room over there on the low floors though, because there wouldn't have been any view to compensate for the beeps and stuff.

I shouldn't have been concerned about the standard view. When we checked in we got upgraded to a beautiful courtyard view! Just more Disney magic!! Gotta love it!

I stayed in a standard view room last June. I liked being right off the lobby and had a great view of the castle, contemporary and the monorails. I would not hesitate to stay in a standard. I am quite confident you'll enjoy the room.

We always try for the Left wing rooms 1000 plus. They have a nice view of the woods and you get to see lots of birds and some animals. It is a quick walk to the pool or the boats. You go right out the side door onto the walkway. That's left if you are in the lobby.
