Quick question about WL....
We will be leaving in 2 weeks! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Now I've heard that some rooms have a view of the kingdom, since I'm traveling with my young cousins who've never been I think it would be so special if their first view of the castle was from our room! Can anyone tell me what room location I should request to get us a better chance of having this view? Also do I just call the reservation line or is there a direct number?

One more question for you, We have a woodsview and will be using only disney transportation. Are there woodsview rooms close to the bus stop that might save us a lot of walking and time that you would recommend?

Thanks in advance for the info!

A woodsview can get you a view of MK (through trees) and close to the boat OR close to the bus stop, but not both.... If you request the North wing you are closer to the boat, Roaring Forks, and the MK view. If you request the South wing you would be closer to the lobby and the bus stop. Good luck, really they both have advantages.

Ask for a north wing view, the resort is easy enough to get around in. We stayed in room #4004 this past May and could see the fireworks thru the trees. We were also able to see the EWP and the boats that go to MK.
This room is about as far from the bus stop as you get at WL, the walk was an easy one about 5 mins unless our 3yr old had to go over the bridge again and again and again.

Don't get too disappointed if you don't get the castle view you wanted - without a telephoto lens from your balcony it actually looks like this in real life:

Look way to the left of the CR (which is the big building on the right) look hard! way left, and you'll see the castle - not exactly the fantastic castle view you're probably thinking you'd be getting!

BUT at night the MK fireworks view IS great from those rooms:

We were on the 7th floor (7052 on the CL floor), but you can probably see about the same fireworks view from the big windows in the 6th floor hallway if you end up somewhere else and want to try that sometime. :goodvibes

I know this is about the WL room request (we will be there in December), but I just have to comment on the picture of the CAT! Awesome smile and cute, cute, cute! I wish he were mine, too . . .

The countdown to an 8 day vaca continues for the fam, (aug 14-22 :cool1: ) and now I'm wondering about this room request info I've seen posted. How would I go about actually requesting a certain area/wing of the WL? I have a standard room ressie, and would like not to be located near ground level lobby if at all possible (noise factor). What should I do, and how do I go about making this request? Also, I've booked through AAA...should I be calling WL just to make sure everything is set in the first place? And thirdly, we plan on renting a car for our visit, but would love to take advantage of having our luggage picked up at airport and delivered to the WL...how would I go about this? I know, I know..only one visit under my belt from several years ago, and I'm a newbie at this, so any help/advice would be appreciated! BTW, any word on expected crowds for that week?

Thanks guys and gals...GREAT SITE!!!

I have a room questions as well. I read somewhere that some of the rooms used to be designated smoking rooms. Does anyone know which rooms or floors this was so I can try to request that we NOT get a previous smoking room. DH and I both have allergy problems that are exaccerbated by smoke.

Thanks for any help!

Just call the AAA TA you used and make sure that your room requests are noted on your reservation. Then when your ressies are sent over to the WL the room assigner will have your info to try and fill them (if possible, not guaranteed). Here's a link to the WL room location map (from the WL info thread) to help you pinpoint where you want to request - you really can't request a particular room number, but general area you'd like:

http://users.hartwick.edu/heydukr/wlrooms.htm

Just add the floor number to those numbers shown on the map - like where it shows 034, it would be 2034 for 2nd floor, 3034 3rd floor, etc.

Here's a link to the WL info thread too:

Sorry I don't know about using ME (Magical Express) to get your luggage transferred - you might want to post that question over on the Transportation board here on the DIS to see if anyone can help there. :goodvibes

Not quite sure, but it might be too late to sign up for magical express now. That doesn't mean you couldn't use it, but you would have to get your luggage and wait in line (and this defeats the purpose you want it for) unless ME could get you your luggage tags in two weeks. I'd call them today to see if this is possible if it is what you want to do.

Just call up your AAA TA and ask them to add the room request to your ressie. Do this as soon as possible as the reservation gets sent to the hotel for room assignment 5 days before your arrival. They generally do not recommend calling or faxing the resort your requests as they do not receive your ressie until a few days before and unless the request is noted on the reservation it tends to not be honoured.

As for the luggage being picked up by Disney at the airport, you can only do this if you are using the Magical Express to get to WDW. They will not transport your luggage unless you are riding the bus to WDW.

Hope this helps and I wish you a magical vacation. You will love the WL.

If you click on the link below it will give you a lay-out of the room locations at Wilderness Lodge. The Smoking Optional Rooms were all located in the 6th floor North Wing (Wood and Courtyard Views) they were room #'s 6000-6034. No one has reported back that they have had any problems staying in these rooms that have been refurbished since June 1, 2007.

While the intent of ME is for use by people who only ride the bus, there are people on the trans board that report they have used it as a luggage transportation system only. Disney gets all the luggage automatically that have the yellow ME tags and it goes to the resort. But, those are not the official rules and not the intention of the program, and I don't advocate breaking Disney rules, but people have reported that they did it (I personally would not though). But anyway you would need to have the yellow ME tags on your luggage and I don't know if they can get them to you in two weeks.
