WL "request only" ?

HI, Last week I made a reservation at the WL for the weekend of April 17th. It took me trhree calls on HOLD and very LONG waits to FINALLY get through! Well I got a "woods view" at the AP rate which I am happy with! But then I came to the DIS to find out what exactly that was and found out that some "woods view" are CASTLE views! This is our Anniversary weekend and I would love to get a CASTLE view! I know that I can only REQUEST a view so my ? is WHEN is the BEST time to do my REQUESTING? Should I call back right away,TODAY, or wait until closer to my TRIP, or BOTH?? IF we fly into Orlando we will arrive very LATE in the evening because it will be after the school day ends for my 2 boys. Any HELP is appreciated!! THANKS, Joan

If I remember correctly we have had a view of the fireworks over the castle and a view of the very top of it several times without a woods view. Request a room on the north side of the building, as high as possible, and as close to the front of the building as possible.

We went in October 2003 and had a Woods View room on the 5th floor. I think our travel agent (Shirley at Dreams Unlimited - wonderful!) put the request in when we made our reservation - she also might have reconfirmed a couple days before arrival. I have seen that been recommended before.

I think the key for the Woods View is to be on the 5th or 6th floor. 7th floor is concierge.

Just keep in mind that if you are fortunate to get a room with a view of the castle, you might not see the castle at first. It is very small and off in the distance in between trees. We asked for our room but it was not guaranteed, and we didn't see the castle at all during the day. Then later that night, we heard the booms of the fireworks, opened our drapes and there it was! Magnificent! Then the next day the castle was much more apparent.
