WL refurbs

I know that the Wilderness Lodge and Saratoga Springs are going to begin major refurbishments soon. Has anyone heard if Wilderness Lodge will possibly make standard rooms to fit families of 5....as with a fold out couch (similiar to Polynesian/Contemporary/GF/AKL)????

dont know if they have enough room in the rooms to do so. One of the reasons its less priced deluxe. Probably just a room and carpet re-do. Rooms have always been a little dreary IMO..


Since you mentioned SSR maybe WLV are whats being refurbed???

Agree with previous poster - those rooms are way too tiny to fit a fold out. We loved WL but have only stayed there once - primarily because the rooms are so small. Altho there are only 4 of us, we need more than just the 2 beds cause the kids don't sleep together. Bunk beds don't work for us either cause DS is so tall. We have managed at other resorts by taking an air mattress. But, having stayed at WL, I just don't think an air mattress is feasible without blocking the hallway. Or making someone sleep on the balcony.

If you go to the WL Information thread, you will find alot of detailed information about the refurb. As the pp said, there isn't much extra room to accommodate a daybed/pull out . With that said, there is no mention in the refurb info about making the rooms accommodate 5. But there are specific details on the WL thread as to what is going to be done .

We've stayed at WL over 15 times and never felt that the rooms needed an update....never seen any wear and tear in any of the rooms we've been in and as far as the drab look...it's supposed to be a cabin in the woods, bright tones (in my opinion would ruin the ambiance) open the slider drapes..plenty of light..

As for them going 5 people with a day bed...never happen...not enough floor space and it's when it and the AKL are deluxes and price cheaper than all the others...amount of guest allowed in the room....we like it just as it is....

We are going to Disney World November 21-26. Currently, I am having a hard time deciding between the Beach Club Resort and the Wilderness Lodge. My husband and I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for our 1st wedding anniversary in 1996. Since then, we stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort in 2001 then the Port Orleans/French Quarter in 2003. My daughter (14 yrs. old) and her friend (16 yrs. old) will be joining us in November of 2012. I like many aspects of both resorts and am having a difficult time making a decision. If I new there would be a strong possibility we would be placed in a newly refurbished room at the WL, that may be a deciding factor in me booking that resort. Is there a scheduled date of completion yet or when some refurbished rooms will begin to be available?

We stayed at WL in August. Our room was beautiful, not at all in need of a re-furb. I don't think the rooms will ever hold 5 due to fire codes.

didnt mean the rooms were run down. just a bit dark......new linens and decor would be a bit of fresh air. its always nice when some refurbs happen...

As Mickeynut1 mentioned, there is some WL rehab. info.on the first page of the WL thread which is hyperlinked in my signature.

The details from Thor Construction indicate that exisiting furniture will be reupholstered. There was no mention in the detailed construction co. documents of new furniture, though it does mention other new elements, such as sinks, bath tub, counter top... Currently, WL has 25 Deluxe rooms which already accommodate 6 people.

The rehab is slated to begin April 15. Originally, the CL manager told me that it would take up to two years to complete, but documents now indicate a one year completion, one floor at a time.
