What are the pros and cons to the WL. Never stayed there before, and will be in May. (Just missed the Contemporary by a hair :( -- too booked, nothing in Tower available)

What about its concierge? im not booked for it, but its "never too late" to change... right.

Beautiful resort. Transportation to/from parks was great! The room I was in was quiet. The pool and hottub are wonderful! I'm running out of adjectives. WL is just an overall great place to stay at WDW. Romantic, even.

The resort is beautiful but has the smallest rooms of all deluxe properties. Self parking can be tight at times. The pool and geyser are great.

Absoultly wonderful!!

CR & WL are my fav resorts.

Go to the WL faq thread. LOTS of info & pictures on the first couple of pages.

It is a beautiful resort, my son and I stayed there in Dec of 2002.
I know some people complain about the transportation but we did not run into a problems. Just do not take the boat if you are leaving after an E-night or special event, take the resort monorail to the TTC and then the bus back to WL.
The rooms are smaller that the other deluxe resorts but bigger that the value or moderates.
The lobby is impressive, the food court is smaller than you might expect for a deluxe but was fine for us, the food selection was good and the food was good. We did not eat at Artist Point but we did eat at Whispering Canyon and it was very good.
We were in a courtyard view room on the 4th floor, you could hear noise from the pool at night but it did not keep us awake.
I have read other posts where people asked to be upgraded to concierge at check in, and the cost was about $45.00 extra a night.
I am sure you will enjoy the WL

I could find NO faults with WL! It even impressed fussy DH and our well-traveled friends who joined us! I hope to get a great AP rate this August and stay there again!

I will be the descending voice here. Cons are rooms too small and the same size as the CBR which is a moderate . Transportation was horrible! Buses never showed, buses and boats shared with a campground. Pools were way too small for this resort. People were packed in them and also the kiddie pool was tiny. WL is not worth the smaller price they charge. Pros: Only one. It is beautiful.

As you can see from my signature I love the Wilderness Lodge...It's a beautiful resort and for me I always get a special thrill when I walk through the Lobby. The rooms are smaller than some of the other Deluxe resorts but the Lodge is small compared to them...and feels like home.

As for the pools we have never found them to be small or crowded but I don't visit during peak seasons.
Did notice last trip people coming over from Ft. Wilderness Campground to swim...and [/b]CM's[/b] requested Resort ID's to correct this problem.

If you deside to stay there I believe you'll really enjoy yourself, you will also be very close to CR dinning.

Well, pretty much what others have said:

Pros - it is beautiful! I love the atmosphere. The themeing is excellent. Like the "crickets" chirping as I walk in from parking and the animal prints in the walkways. Although the pool isn't huge the whole spilling down from the lobby thing is really pretty. Rocking chairs and the fireplace. The music in the lobby. Also enjoyed the boat ride to the MK, it was a nice way to get there. Had good bus service when we were there and we had great mousekeeping. Got really awesome towel critters every day (although I know at any of the resorts that's hit or miss) It's also very peaceful so a nice place to relax after the crowded parks.

Cons - don't know if I'd actually call them cons as I view WL and AKL in a category by themselves. No matter how Disney groups them I think I'd say they are more like 1st class than deluxe. I think it's kind of a "get what you pay for thing" 'cause I've found that the regular rooms at these two cost much less than all other deluxes, except maybe CR wings. The regular rooms at WL (and AKL) are smaller than other deluxes. We did not have a day bed in ours - that kind of thing. Also the other deluxes have locations closer to a park than AKL and WL. So given what we paid at WL and AKL I think we got an awesome experience. I loved the room size at the Poly and being on the monorail, but it also cost us more to stay there. Personally I prefer the themeing at AKL and WL over the Poly but that's just my opinion!

Have a great trip!

We've stayed twice at Wilderness Lodge, and once at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. There is just something so special about the resort that we love. I'm sure you'll have a great time, it's truly a wonderful place to stay! ;)
