Helpl! I have the 7/4 Visa deal booked at the POR. I have been talking with DH and I would really rather staty at the Poly. I called tonight, "only 1 room left", lagoon view but it is almost $1500 more than what I have. The CM offered the WL for $450 more than what I am paying now. Question is what to do? Is the WL very kid friendly? Feeding them could be a problem w/o the food court. I've read bad reviews about the transportation. Please offer you expert advice!!! Thank you

WL is great! I also guarantee you that you will get mixed reviews...however...here it goes. We absolutely love the WL. It is extremely "child friendly". We stayed there 3 years ago and haven't gotten a chance to visit the world again until this May and we are staying at WL again! It is a beautiful resort and we actually love the transportation. No, it isn't the absolute quickest because the ferry boat picks you up at the dock (about every 10 min.) and then stops at FWL before going to MK, but we really enjoyed the ride.

Whispering Canyon is a must for children. It is a very fun sit down restaurant for children. Also, even though there isn't a food court, there is a snack bar called Roaring Forks and they have all kinds of different foods. Anything from pizza, hot dogs, nachos, etc. We ate there almost every morning for breakfast before hitting the parks.

There is a small game room if your kids like video games. The pool is very nice but is a little small if you are going during a peak season. The rooms are nice but nothing great if you are looking for luxury. We didn't mind the rooms at all because we spent so little time there.

Anyhow, I would highly recommend WL if you have never tried it.
Good Luck on deciding and have a wonderful time!!!

Hi, I agree w/ d96j97. We also stayed at WL on our honeymoon in 96 and this May will be our fisrt trip back to WL since we've had our son. The main reason for us is the location of MK being so close-we will probably be there most of the time(DS is 4).
Having stayed at the all levels and even at the French Quarter a few years ago -for us the WL will be another dream come true w/ DS.
Have fun at which ever you pick!:earsboy:

I have only stayed at the WL and LOVED IT! So did DD who was 6 at the time. I was traveling solo with her and found it very kid friendly and easy to get around.

Food options are Whispering Canyon which is a must with kids but there is also Roaring Forks for a more quick bite and it is also very kid friendly.

I don't know how old your kids are but the pool has a slide and there is a smaller kiddie pool as well.

We had no problem with the transportation. I loved being able to take the boat to the MK- made it very easy and a relaxing way to get around. You can also take a boat to FW- good food options there and a petting zoo for the kids; also boat to CR for dinner at Chef Mickey's or to catch the monorail. Bus transportatin was efficient too.

Rooms are smallish but if your kids are old enough- WL has rooms with bunkbeds that give you a bit more floor area- usually a queen bed and a set of bunkbeds.

I could keep raving about the Lodge but I don't want to make this too long!!

To balance things, I do have a friend that has three kids and she likes to stay at POR.

Happy planning! You will have fun either place!!
