WEll, with a trip comming up for Thanksgiving, I am looking for a hotel. WE just stayed at the poly in April...so I am looking at the WL.

DH & DD wern't with the rest of us at the poly, so they are looking for reason to change, help me!

What makes the WL so great? Is the transporation really OK?

The transportation from the poly really has made it our first choice always! We will have 5 kids in Nov. My oldest DD will be with her BF in Arizona.

So tell me all the great things about WL...thanks in advance!

Wish I could help you, but have never stayed at WL. I've heard its ok, but if I were you, I'd STAY AT POLY!!! WOO HOO! Sorry.... I really wish I could help you, good luck...

And on another notes, CT RULES! (Lived there for 11 years!)

Not stayed at the Poly....But I love the WL.

We stayed there the week after thanksgiving.

The big advantage will be the Monorail for the Poly.

But the Lodge is cheaper, and the boats are good going to the MK. We only had a problem with a longish wait coming back from the Christmas Party. Otherwise transportation was great. The only other downside is that sometimes you share with FW...But it was never a problem when we were there.

The hotel is beautiful. The pool is fun, but the Poly has a good pool too....

The WL may seem more Christmasy than a tropical theme....

See my post on First Timer Who Loved WL. I had a few complaints, but they were minor.

Still, I've heard good things about the Poly too.

Bus trip from WL to AK is horrendously long. Bus trip to Epcot was fine.

Boat to MK from WL is great and very convenient.

We didn't visit MGM due to limited time, so I can't say anything about tranportation from WL to that park.

I would stay at the WL again, but would not want a pool room - too noisy at night. But service was great and the resort is very lovely. Great pool too.

Wife and I are huge Poly fans. The TTC is within walking distance, there's a monorail and a boat to take you, and you're just a rock's throw from Tonga Toast.

I've stayed at both resorts and I have to say that I prefer the WL over the Poly. For me, it comes down to the theming. I just don't love the Polynesian theme. But I don't think you can go wrong with either resort. To me, I think your decision should be based on whether you think you'd like the WL's theme and if you are the type of person who likes to try out different resorts.

I do agree with the PP that the WL seems like it would be more appropriate for the holidays.

Hmmmmm . . .When we stayed at the Poly in 2000 I fell in love with it . . .the tropical feel, the relaxed atmosphere, the closeness to MK. We will be staying there again in 2005, I really have missed it alot.

The WL . . .is a really nice resort. I enjoyed it because it was different than being on the monorail line of resorts. The ferry ride to MK was ok when it wasn't really crowded. The bus waits weren't bad at all. What I really liked about WL was that Roaring Fork was right there inside the resort and I felt comfortable letting the kids go down and get refills by themselves.

But, I have to say that when we stayed at WL I didn't feel like we were at WDW at all. Something about seeing the castle at night makes me feel like I'm really inside the magic and the WL didn't have that. That's probably the only negative thing I can say about WL.

I think that everyone needs to try something new once in awhile. It's good to have variety. You won't know if you like it, if you don't try it.

I have stayed at both resorts and I think I would choose the Poly. The transportation is great at the poly. I enjoyed the themeing. You have as someone else pointed out Tonga Toast and Ohana. But honestly you can't go wrong with either one.

I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and it is beautiful especially at holidays. However the rooms are SO SMALL so I would go for the Poly!

I just came back from a stay at WL. I loved it. I didn't think the rooms were too small at all. We had 2 adults and 3 kids. The transportation was fine. Yes, the ride to AK was a little long (not horrendous as posted earlier) You stop at GF, BB then AK. But to me I have a seat in the AC so what is the big deal. I think it is a beautiful resort. Have fun choosing.
