We have stayed at the Poly the last 4 years. We are going for 18 nites and decided to split with PO-RS, because we haven't been there since it was DXL  and really liked it, also the $$ doesn't hurt. (high season, march).

NOW = Thinking about trying out WL which we stayed in once right after it opened. Haven't been back. Had some problems with buses then, and not really crazy about the resturants at WL. But someone talk me into it. The courtyard rooms are still 1000.00 savings over the poly gv for 10 nites  . That could be the difference about going on 2 trips this year or 1. We do rent a car, so I know we can drive to get meals etc... or eat at parks. Hows room service?

I know in my mind for the $$ I should do it, I just want to be really happy about doing it.

Thanks, mky princess:

I'd stay at the WL over the Poly any day, even if the WL was more expensive. The Poly just doesn't do it for me, and after 3 stays there, I can definately say I won't be going back. I think the decor of the WL is more "magical" than the Poly, and I've never had anything but excellent bus service at WL. Now, you can take this with a grain of salt, because WL is my 2nd favorite resort (BWV wins that vote) and the Poly is down there just above the values for me. If you'd think you'd enjoy the WL and the difference in room size wouldn't be a problem go for it!

I would rather stay at WL as well. It's just more my style. The only thing I will say about WL is that transportation can some times be more challenging than at Poly. You either travel by bus everywhere or take the boat to Magic Kingdom. This is fine at the slower times of the year if your only going to the parks. It becomes some what more difficult if you need to get to a resort because the busses don't usually run to specific resorts. In the past when we have stayed at WL we have just taken the boat to MK and then caught a bus to the other resorts for diner, or whatever. If it was too late, and the boat wasn't running, we've had excelent luck with the valets! We just ask them to give us a ride some place and they do it. Just be sure to tip them really well. They even offered to pick us up if we needed!

When you stay at the Poly it's somewhat easier. You take the monorail or walk to TTC, super easy!!

You'll have a great time at either resort

I just loved our WL stay. It is a very relaxing resort. It's compact, so nothing is very far away. If you really want a quiet area to read, just take a beach chair on the beach. It is so quiet & relaxing and the view is pretty. I also loved the private balacony each room has. The walls between the rooms are solid, so you never have to worry abt looking over and seeing your neighbor.

We had no transportation problems during our stay. We never waited more than a few minutes for a bus or boat.

I just loved the Poly and can't wait to go back. I loved every itty bitty thing about it and especially the fact that its on the monorail and you can go for an after dinner monorail ride.

I love the Polynesian but just looking at what each has to offer I would say Polynesian. Better pool, better transportation, food is about the same (quality not type) rooms are much larger, views are much better and you have access to the other resorts on the monorail in a matter of minutes for their food and shopping.

The only time I would recommend the WL over the Polynesian would be for a winter/ Christmas trip. I think the theme of the WL is better for the cooler times than the Polynesian.

Aloha

We've stayed at both the Poly and WL and prefer the POLY hands down. The convenience alone convinced me. We weren't too crazy at WL's transportation either. The rooms are quite a bit smaller. They are dark. The CMs, in my experience, were much more helpful at the Poly. The pool is much nicer at the Poly.

But, you're talking about $1,000 - that's a lot of money. I think this question boils down to money....

My 1st visit to Disney w/ my family last year we went all $ was no option and stayed at the Poly . Great resort , beautiful pool, great trans. esp. monorail. All that being said , just got back fro WL- NO COMPARISON! WL has it all and is beautiful. Already booked WL for 2006!

Go to the poly, that way there will be more rooms left for us that love the WL. Really. :D

Thanks for all the responses! Each resort has good and bad points. Sometimes its good to switch so you appreciate the ones we have as favorites.

Well still not sure what I will wind up with. Hoping for a good AP rate at POLY. :D  BUT Called wdw last nite and FYI: They have rooms not listed on the disney website. Hmmmm. I was talking to a very helpful CM, about my deliema and wanting to cut some $$ and not sure about WL, when she pulled it up the courtyard was unavailable (which I did want) so I was kinda maybe I'll wait, and she suggested the CR garden. I told her I checked the internet site daily and not available, only for suites and she said she had it all my dates and for a pretty good price. Still saving 600.00 off poly gv. :smooth: :earseek: This was for the garden, waterview not the standard, that was sold out. So I'm pretty pleased with this. ::yes:: ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo We like the CR, haven't stayed in the gardens for a while, but that is not a problem, closer to the parking, and don't have to tip the valets. ;)

So if your still hunting a BDP code, call them up, they seem to have some that are not one the website. :yo-yo: ::yes::
