We are scheduled to arrive 11/3, leaving 11/9. We already have ressies for WL courtyard with AAA discount. We really wanted standard because this trip is going to be a parks trip so not alot of time at the resort but none available. Trying to save some $$ to spend more in the parks yet still stay within our budget. Now I am wondering if maybe a moderate? We have stayed at POR on our very first trip some 8years ago. We really love WL though. What would you do?:moped:

In 2001 we stayed 9nights at the WL for less money per night than a moderate would have cost us. Gotta love those discount codes.
However we enjoyed our WL stay so much that we bought into DVC w/VWL as our "home"!

I have to agree but right now no codes. This trip was for us a last minute decision because of a great airfare we were able to get. Let's hope some codes come out for all of us going in Oct - Dec.

Here is my opinion...(you asked for it, right? :p ) When I am planning a trip to disney I try to fit it all in so we spend alot of time in the parks, at the water parks, at DTD, resort hopping, etc. I want to do so much every trip that I will always spend less money on a room in order to be able to spend more on souvenirs, tours, meals, etc.

That said, I am not willing to stay off property for a cheaper room and in fact have never stayed at a value resort. I have stayed at all the moderates and POR is my favorite, hands down. I like it so much that I am having trouble deciding if I even want to stay at WL or AKL for our Sept. 05 trip. The money is in the budget to stay at a Deluxe (thanks to getting our first AP's) but the actual ressie is at POR - for now.

You stated you would be in the parks alot so I would go for a moderate and spend the savings having a great time doing something else. We always end up at the WL and AKL for dinner anyway. Have fun choosing and have a great trip.

What would the difference in rates be between WL CV and a Moderate? Factor the extra $ per night and decide if you feel like a Deluxe is worth it to you.

IMHO........Obviously, only you can decide, however, the WL experience is great and you stated that you really wanted to stay there.

Ahhh...decisions...decisions....:scratchin

Good Luck!

Thanks for your input. Budget no being a factor we would choose WL every time. I feel like I am on vacation the moment I walk in. We haven't explored the other resorts as much as DW and I would like especially the moderates. Value resort rooms to small for the three girls/women in my life and me so they are not an option. What to do, What to do. I am having fun fretting over every decision because we're headed for the home of the mouse.:hyper:

We just returned from Disney July 10 - had a WONDERFUL trip and split our stay with Pop Century and Wilderness Lodge!!! My youngest daughter fell in love with Wilderness Lodge and the pool!

We are going back in Dec for an early Christmas visit, and when asked, Allison immediately said she wanted to stay at WL because she loves their pool & slide!! I did book WL at rack rate, hoping for a discount. I got one of the e-mails, and WL was not available for my stay, but we could stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. At first, I booked AKL, but then I checked back at the rates for Pop Century! Well, for what I had paid for the one night at WL, I'm staying four nights at Pop Century!!!

We just wanted this trip in early Dec to be a "quick trip" to see the decorations, so staying value works out best! (That way, I can talk DH into going again next summer!!)

Have a great time planning!!!

Let us know what you decide. We look forward to your report when you return!

You will have a great time at either location!::yes::

I had this same dilema last year and split my stay to save some dough. I did 4 night at CBR and 4 nights at WL. It was worth it too.

All your ideas have me thinking. If we can get a decent rate at a moderate to offset the cost of AP. We'll stay at a moderate this time and us the AP to stay at WL next year during the summer when we'll spend more time at the resort. Besides that means TWO!!! trips.

If you don't mind sharing could you post how you got that great airfare?? We are looking into a return trip to WDW in the same time frame that you posted.

We are flying out of Columbus Ohio on a Delta carrier for $137 roundtrip. I found the fare on Delta'a website. In fact the day before I booked the flight the same exact flights were $197. So my advice is try the airlines web sites and keep going back. It was still the same rate as of yesterday.

It's really a personal decision. I've stayed at each moderate more than once and had a wonderful stay each time. However, I've also stayed at the WL 4 times and had a marvelous stay. For me, the WL wins each and every time! Whatever you choose, it will be magical!

A DECISION HAS BEEN MADE!! Called CRO last night and booked a standard room at POR. It saved us over $700:earseek: I am looking forward to the experience. They had water views available for about $12 a night more. We are wondering if we should upgrade? Thanks for everyone's help.::MickeyMo

Congrats on booking POR! Waterviews at the POR consist of pool view, river view or swamp view. Since POR does not have balconies I would not pay the money for a water view. Enjoy your stay at POR!

I agree with jaguar's comment on the balcony and view. I would keep the standard view.

Good news on your savings...now you can hopefully have two trips! ::yes::
