WL or BWI for NYE

We're staying for one night at WDW after our cruise, New Year's Eve. I already have a WL ressie, but was thinking that maybe BW would be better because I'm assuming that the Boardwalk will be really active since it's NYE. We won't have park tickets.

At first I planned on WL and Downtown Disney for the NYE celebration, but I don't want to have to "commute" back to our resort. I want to be where some NYE action is, and then walk a few steps to bed afterwards.

Does WL do anything special at the stroke of midnight on NYE? Would we be better off at BW?

I've never been to either place on NYE, but if the criteria is being where the action is, it's tough to imagine that WL could compare with the boardwalk. I think if you really want to be where the action is, pleasure island would be the place, and that's an easier commute from BWI than WL. I would suspect it's pretty fun at WL too, but in a more low key way.
