Hi~ which would you pick WL or AKL and why? S

I posed this question this spring - I think you can click on my name to see questions I posted and then look at the replies. There is some way!

We have stayed twice at BOTH AKL and WL and enjoyed both and would recommend both without hesitation. With that in mind, our next trip is back to the WL. For being themed differently, they are amazingly similar. WL wins for us because it is closer to the MK, and we like the water options: boat launch and electric water parade. I do want to point out, however, that we never had to wait long for buses at AKL. It also has its own bus service. WL shared with Poly and GF, but I believe it may now share with Ft. Wilderness.

The animals are great to watch, but they aren't there 24/7; the waterfall, stream, and lake are always in the view at the WL. Again, one small difference.

The restaurants are much better at AKL, though. Our AKL visits involved visiting Bomas more than once, and it has become a tradition for us on our visits.

If you stay isn't a short one, you could always split your reservations between the two resorts to sample each. However you decide, you will enjoy!

my3boys, I have some questions for you also. We stayed at WL this past summer. My 12 yearold DD loved it. My 9 yearold DD thought it was an adult resort. We are going to try AKL next trip. We were not thrillled with the WL pool. Is the AKL pool any better? I liked WL. but I did not love it, but had never stayed at a deluxe before. I guess I was expecting more. I did not like the theme that great. Where i live I see pine trees and streams all the time. My 12 year old loves the safari at AK. I think she will enjoy AKL. How is the Mara compared to the Roaring Forks? thanks...corvair amy

In April, we went resort hopping. We started at AKL with a walk around the lobby and dinner at Mara which we enjoyed very very much! Especially loved the TV ~ ds eat pizza watching Toy Story 2, his fav! We walked around the pool and saw the animals at the look out. It started to rain, so we went to WL for dessert. I like the location of WL better than AKL but the food court seemed to be in the dungeon LOL! Rain got hard enough not to walk around outside. The artium was very dark. I am still on the fence post with both of these resorts. S

Although I have never stayed at the AKL, I would recommend the WL to anyone! I really dont anticipate staying at the AKL, I just dont care for the theme and the motif. Just my opinion tho.

ANyway, the WL is great. It is peaceful, serene, and at the same time bustling with great sounds from the 2 waterfalls, and the great echo sounds from within the lodge. I love it. The rooms are so nice and if you want a great view that is worth the money, request a pool/courtyard view. You can over look the pool and the watch the geyser and at some parts of the lodge, you can sit on your balcony and see the EWP. I love sitting on my balcony early in the morning overlooking Bay Lake and watching the sun come up.

Transportation is easy, quick and hassle free.

The food is great. Roaring Forks has a nice variety!

How many nights are you staying? Have you considered resort-hopping and staying at both? That's what we are doing in Oct. We couldn't decide between WL and AKL either and just ended up not making a choice! :D
