WL - need a rent car?

I'm travelling with two young kids - do you recommend getting a rent car - we'll be there for 8 days.

It was our July 2002 trip at WLV that made all our future plans include a rental car. While the boat to MK is still the best route we found buses to be very time consuming. One trip to DD took 1 1/2 hours to get back to WLV after stopping at one of the water parks. I love having the freedom of a car to hit the grocery store, get to dinner reservations without having to leave an hour travel time. I still use the buses when I'm not in a hurry.

A round trip from Marketplace to PI to Typhoon to WL to FW and all the way back to Marketplace takes about 45 minutes. Even with thunderstorm traffic coming out of Typhoon, that might only add 15 minutes... making travel time to WL 45 mins tops from Marketplace.

I agree Tyler, but when you add in waiting time for the bus its a much longer trip!! I still use the buses but have found when on a deadline its great to have the car. I didn't mean to pick on the bus transportation, just reporting my experience.

Indeed, wait time could add another 15 minutes if one just missed the bus. I just wanted to convey the point that the typical run will be much less than your experience.

We have always had a rental car, and made use of it. This May we were at WL and did not use the car once!! We had no problems at all with the bus service- short waits, great service and some very FUN drivers.:Pinkbounc

For us part of the magic is not driving. Because we try to slow down the pace when we are at the world, we throw our watches out the window (except for PSs!), relax, and leave the driving to them! Just another way to pamper ourselves on vacation!

I look at the buses like a very large stretch limo with a chauffeur wearing purple pants taking us on the scenic route :)

There is so much to see all around WDW and it's nice to look at while riding rather having to keep a eye on the road and some lost soul trying to figure out where they want to go.

Leave it to the proffessional, sez I

You took the words right out of my mouth. We feel the exact same way!

WDW can be confusing to drive around and with two wee ones might be a chore. If you want to take in some local sights or McDonalds, then I wuld say yes.
