We are going to be staying at the WL 12/06-12/12. We were very excited to stay there around the holiday time, but now I am not sure. I am hoping that it wouldn't be a problem. After seeing how the construction went at the Poly, I am not sure I want shell out $3200 to be at construction site. That being said it is almost $400 to $500 more for the other deluxes. What are your thoughts? Does the holiday theme outweigh the construction and cost of going to a different deluxe?

We have stayed at all of the deluxe resort and WL during the Christmas season; and one resorts during its renovation. Personally, its our vacation and I am paying premium Disney price. I want the Disney experience, not the Disney construction experience with visual and sound being part of the deal. There are no decorations that off set the sites and sounds of construction zones. You see the maps entail a large part of the WL grounds which could be cleared all at once or in a phased approach. Other resorts provide piece of mind. Other people can be OK with it, but I would recommend paying for the courtyard view over the woods-construction zone.

I tink you need to ask what your comfort level is if there are "glitches" in your stay. Now you may not even see any construction, but feel the vibe the disruption has on other guest and staff, so do you think that would bother your family? We found out the hard way that the disruptions bother us, so we will never knowingly book during renovations or construction. But are you sensitive to that? If not, then go for it, but be aware that Disney will not just relocate you if you are unhappy. You may be lucky and have a choice of resorts but may need to pay the difference, or there may not be any comparable rooms at a different resort.

If this was my decision, and I was paying $3200 for a possible problematic resort, I would kick in $400 more and stay somewhere else. All of the resorts have lovely decorations during the Christmas season, but since this would be a compromise for your family, have you thought about AKL? My family loved that resort. The majestic tree in the center of that lobby!!!! Beautiful! WE were there just after Christmas and it was stunning.
