I have honestly always left my laptop (when I've brought it) right on top of the desk, plugged in and hooked up! I brought my laptop cable lock with me last June and I never brought it out of the bag.
Disney may be one of the safer places to stay but insurance companies want to know what you did to prevent the theft if a laptop is stolen.
If you can live without the information contained on your laptop then no problems leaving it on the desk. But if you use your laptop for business then it is a good idea to lock it up or with a cable.
I must be trusting too. I always left mine out. We were at WL 2 years ago and BWI last summer. We never had a problem. I do have a cable to lock it up, but have never used it.
I know of too many people that have had business laptops stolen. I wouldn't want to have to recreate all the files on mine. I have everything backed up but it would take a lot of time to get a new laptop back to the way the other one was.
that the hotel is NOT responsible for any valuables left unattended in the room. If you do not put it in the in-room safe, ask about safe deposit boxes at the front desks, many hotel have them and hotels are only liable if your items are in one of these hotel provided safes. Better safe than sorry! Oy-no pun intended
