WL - Just Back

Hi. We got in late last night from 7 nights at Wilderness Lodge. I will be posting a trip report and dining report later today. Any questions, feel free to ask.

We liked the lodge, it's location and theming, but I thought the rooms were a little small and those beds were very high (I'm 5'0" tall so it was hard to get into them) and I kept banging into the posts on the front of the bed and I have the bruises to show it!

We were in room 6100 and overlooked the villas. I had requested a North wing room, but it was not granted. Oh well. We were much too tired to even sit on our balcony at the end of the day.

So what do you mean by high beds? Did you guys get bunk beds? or two queens?

How was the staff? Was this your first time at WL?

We will be at WL on Saturday.. can't wait!!!!!!!

they are high off the floor. i too am short and have to climb into the bed! LOL! we have always found the staff to be very helpful and pleasant. we have stayed at the lodge many times; it is our favorite! hope you have a great trip!

How was the transportation? Did you take buses and the boat? Were the wait times reasonable?

We go on 08/25. First time on site!! I can hardly wait!!

I was surprised by how high those beds were too. I couldn't believe in all the reading I had done on the WL that it had never been mentioned. I'm 5'5" and still had to crawl in.

We found the staff to be wonderful as well. Our CM at check in really went above and beyond the call of duty.

I'm 5' 7 so the high bed isn't an issue for me..

they don't look high in the pictures!

My kids are dong the bunk beds (hopefully that request is noted).

That is so funny that you mention the higher than normal beds. My bed at home is very high and when I go on vacation I always feel like I am sleeping on the floor. When we went to WL last year I just loved the beds being a liitle higher than usual. I am only 5'2" and yes I have to hop up in bed but I am use to it.

Wow! I didn't think the "high bed" thing was really as big a deal as I made it out to be...

The pool area was nice. We spent most of our time in the baby pool with our son. We also went into the big pool and the water slide was lots of fun! The hot tubs are nice too, and they are right behind the geyser. There are towels at the pool behind Trout Pass pool bar. It never looked or felt crowded to me. We walked by the pool a lot since it's on the way to the boat dock.

We never had ANY trouble with the boats or buses. The longest we waited for a bus was 10 minutes. We had a great bus driver one morning - she was very amusing and kept everyone laughing! The boat launch to MK was great. In the mornings the boat goes to Fort Wilderness then to WL, so MK is the first stop. After 3pm the boat goes to WL then Ft. Wilderness, so MK is the second stop.

We ate at Whispering Canyon, which was good - and we asked for ketchup!

The CM's were great, especially "Scott" at guest services and the two CM's in the Merchantile. Very helpful and full of that Disney magic.

I think we will stay at WL again but at the villas. We just found the rooms with two queens very tight for our one year old son. He wanted to get down and crawl around, but there was very little space to allow for this. So when we get to the "Wilderness" again, it will be in a one bedroom villa.

You could consider a room with bunk beds and put him on the lower bunk. There is then a little more floor space.
