Well, the trip to WL is about one month away and I have a few questions about this resort...We have a courtyard view reserved.

1. Will I have a balcony?

2. Could a courtyard be "upgraded"? If yes, to what?

3. We'll be checking in around 7:30 p.m. Will this affect our room selection...o.k. what I mean is will we get the yuck view that no one wanted from earlier?

I know that we'll love it but our old place, POR, was so known and predictable.
Thanks for your help! Lynn

Hi,

1) Yes all rooms at Wilderness Lodge have a balcony or patio if your on the ground floor.

2) I guess you could upgrade a Courtyard View to a Concierge Room (but at an additional cost) Ask when you check-in (Good luck)

3) A late check-in doesn't always mean a bad room view or location, if you aren't happy let the front desk know asap they may be able to move you to another location.

I have stayed so many times at the lodge and I have never had to request a new room location so sending you some... Pixie Dust for your stay.

We visit WL every year (sometimes twice) I have only encountered one situation. We paid for a courtyard view, when we arrived at the lodge we decided to upgrade to concierge, which we often do. However when we were given our room, we did not receive a courtyard view, when the concierge was questioned, they simply said, when you upgrade, you are not necessarily guaranteed a courtyard. Ironically the two other families we were with, received courtyard views, and had not originally paid for that view, and upgraded to concierge at the same price. So make sure when you are at checkin, if you decide to upgrade to concierge, you also remind them that you would like courtyard view also. Have a great trip!

Be sure to ask for inner courtyard if you want a great view of the pool. Email me for a photo from our balcony, Room 6039.

I think I may be in the minority in that I don't like the courtyard view at the WL. Last time there, was a concierge stay, with a courtyard view. Previous visits have been with a north woods view, and I much preferred the more private setting. Also, the otto pond is very relaxing to have to wake up to. :)

With the courtyard view we had, (southside, but north facing) we could easily see into rooms across the courtyard, and I am sure they could see well into ours, even with the blocked balcony. If I can locate them, I will post the pics of our view, and you can see what I mean. It just was a bit less private feeling than I would have liked. Also, I suppose because our room was closer to the lobby area,, that means that we were at the narrower part of the courtyard view rooms. I suppose if we were overlooking futher down near where the pool was, it would not have felt so claustrophobic. The distance between the buildings is much wider as you go further toward the lake.

So basically, be wary of the courtyard view that is nearest the lobby, or at least be sure to keep your curtains closed,,LOL.

Also, I hate the long trek to the laundryroom,, so having a room on the North side, with either woods view or pool view would work for me.

We are going for a quick trip back in April, and I have already put in a request to NOT have a courtyard view this time,,lol. We will possibly not arrive until around 11:00pm, so whatever room view we get, may end up being a surprise, either good or bad,,lol. But we will be just happy to be there really :)

We'll be leaving in 9 days for the WL and also have a courtyard view. When I made the ressie I requested a good frontal view of the lake from as high as possible (4th or 5th floor). Where would this type room be located--near the lobby area or out at the end of the wings? Thanks!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :bounce: :hourglass Your room will be beautiful. The balcony is a very romantic spot for you and DH. I'm sure you will have a very special time! :love2: :love2: :love2:

Aubriee, ours was close to the overlook for artists point, if that makes sense. We had full view of the lake and pool

We had the lovliest inner court yard view during our July 04 trip. We were in a 5th floor room that directly faced the lake *** bear face room *** this was a free double upgrade :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

WL is on our short list of resorts for our next trip but there are others we want to try also so we're still considering the options.

You will love the WL. Make sure to take time to put your feet up and relax at WL it is the one thing I wish we had done more of.

Just be aware, there are 2 types of courtyard rooms. The inner, which face the main pool, a/k/a, where the "action is". And the outer, which overlook the quiet pool and the villa's. Our room was an outer. Though it was a lovely, peaceful view, I don't think it was really "worth" the courtyard price.

Enjoy the lodge!
