Since it's just DH and me this trip, we might be spending a little more time at the resort.;)

Does the view at the WL really matter? We will probably spend at least one evening sitting on the balcony enjoying some adult beverages.:thumbsup2

So far I have only had inner courtyard view.....

I love it.....Always some action going on....
People always in the pool....(quiet in your room though)....
Beautiful view of bay lake...

I bought DVC cause I love the lodge....I'll miss the
courtyard view though....

Since it is just you two....you might spend more
time on the balcony relaxing than you think;)
Dont miss Artist Point...
Enjoy

The only thing I would say is don't book a standard view. You really do overlook the parking lot, and my guess is that's not your idea of a romantic night under the stars. :rotfl: DBF and I actually had a woods view room booked for our May trip, but we were unexpectedly upgraded to a courtyard view, which was even better! I don't know when you're going, but if it's during a busy time, the likelihood of a surprise upgrade is probably smaller. Honestly though, if your budget doesn't allow a room with a view, the WL is so beautiful in itself that you can just go somewhere on the property and enjoy the night just the same. There is a lounge next to Artist Point (can't remember the name) and they have really good drinks there. I don't know if you can bring them outside, but even if you can't, you can always enjoy the drinks in there and then take a nice stroll outside. The WL is a great resort for couples... have a wonderful time! :wizard:

Thanks so much. Actually, we're trying to go at the end of November, beginning of December - so we can finally see the holiday decorations in the World.

Our trips so far have been confined to summer so we wouldn't have to take DD out of school - but now that she's off to college - we can go whenever we want - even alone!:) :thumbsup2

When I stayed there in January, we booked a standard view. We wound up in room 4056, it faced toward the MK, you could see it through the trees. However, there was also a loading dock just beneath us. You gamble with a standard view. Personally, I liked it, due to the fireworks at night. I know some people would be put off by the loading dock, though.

I'd rather have a parking lot view than the smokehouse/dumpster view I once had. Samantha Brown is totally wrong when she says there "isn't a bad view anywhere" at the WL. :) There just wasn't a bad view from her lovely suite!

I'd go for a woods view, unless you don't mind the parking lot/smokehouse/dumpster type views.

Hmm... we had the Courtyard View last time we were at the WL and I was very pleased. We could pretty much see everything going on at the resort, but we were (unfortunately) stuck at the far end of the building, so the walk down to the lobby was usually 5+ minutes.

Honestly, the view doesn't matter to me, but since we could get the Courtyard View for a good price, that is what I booked. This summer we will be staying in the Polynesian Magic Kingdom View because our travel agent had a very good price. If it wasn't for the good price, I would have gone with Garden View.

DH and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary there this past Dec...I booked the room 9 months in advance and asked for a courtyard view. We were in the main lobby area on the 4th floor with a huge view of the water, pool, geyser and the stream. It was wonderful to sit there and enjoy the view but we did not do it that much. We had a 1 pm check out and we spent about 2 hours out there talking, it was amazing.

Would I do it again?? Absolutely!

I looooove The Wilderness Lodge! My husband and are planning an adults-only trip for next December, and I'm all over the place about where I want to stay.

You don't say when you're going, but if you're going to be there when the decorations are up, request an inner courtyard view. There will be white lights in all of the trees lining the creek, and Christmas music will be softly playing. You can't get more romantic than that! We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine in the evening.

As much as I loved our stay at The Polynesian, no resort (IMO) beats the WL during the holidays, and we may end up back there just because of that. :santa:

ETA: Oooops. Maybe I should read the rest of the responses before answering next time. I see you are going to be there during the holidays. You're going to love it!

We had this view once and it was my favorite view at the WL. I loved being able to sit on the balcony at night, with my dh, and watch the fireworks. We weren't in the room that much during the day so overlooking the service entrance wasn't an issue with us.

You will LOVE the WL with the holiday decorations up, it is absolutely beautiful!

I agree.
We had the about that same view one trip. Could barely make out the fireworks or anything (view wise) through the trees, but we sure heard it when they came and emptied that dumpster. The parking lot view would have been an improvement.

Go for the woods view, at the very least.
