Has anyone asked to be upgraded to concierge at the time of check-in and got a good rate?

Also, does the concierge floor rooms all have good views? What are the extras that you get?

last year, last week of august, my entire family upgraded when we arrived at WL. They charged us $50 per day to upgrade which is amazing. We have stayed concierge before, but didnt book it because we had 4 rooms between the entire family. They were the best! I had an incident where my hp digital camera broke the day we arrived. They gave us hp's info from the website and helped us package my camera up and received the fed ex new camera and had it in our room as soon as it arrived. They just cannot do enough for you. They try to get you ressies if you decide you want to do something you didnt previously book, they have made spa appts. for me etc. They were wonderful during hurricane frances, very accomodating and actually gave us complimentary park passes for the days we missed due to the park being closed. They really try to accomodate any request. So this year, we are going the same week and have already booked concierge. I would recommend upgrading if possible.

Two years ago, on our first trip to Wilderness Lodge, we were upgraded to concierge from woods view. I didn't ask to be upgraded. All I asked for is if we could have a room where we could see the fireworks. The extra charge was $25.00/night. We were there for eight nights and it was well worth it. The WL concierge is wonderful. The staff is extremely helpful. We stayed there last year and are headed there again this June. It can't hurt to ask to be upgraded. All they can do is say they don't have anything available. Go for it! :flower:

In Oct 2003 we asked at check in and were upgraded from Woods view for $50.00 per night which we felt was a great deal. Our view faced the Magic Kingdom and we could see Wishes from our balcony which was awesome. PLUS the castle peeked through the trees in the distance, which was a big selling point for my daughters (okay I admit it, me too!). We were over the service area and could see the Otter Pond to our right. Some people don't like these rooms because they are over the service area, but it honestly didn't bother us at all, we never even noticed it unless we looked down. We loved staying concierge, the service and amenities were great. The only downside is you have a hard time going back to vacationing any other way! :flower:

We were in 7066, could see fireworks but obstructed view, and there was a service area beneath us. Luckily we wer eonly staying there as a place to sleep and shower while we were settling into the new house, so it didnt' really matter to much.
