We're going on a three night Disney Cruise followed by 7 nights at the WL In July 2005 to celebrate our fifth anniversary. We'll have three kids in tow for the trip (DS 14, DS 3, D? 8 months). We're thinking of booking the concierge level, but aren't sure if it's worth the extra $$$. Anybody care to share their experieince/thoughts/advice?

Hi.

Here's some info I recently posted on the WL FAQ thread:

Hope this helps a bit,

I don't remember exactly where I previously posted this in the past so I have to go on memory now.....I will do my best

Breakfast
juices
milk
coffee/tea
cereals
croissants
bagels
fruit
danish
muffins

during the afternoon hours they typically had:

cookies (the sugar cookies are great)
mixed nuts
gummies
whole fruit
iced tea
lemonade
coffee/tea

in the evening:

a soup
a hot dish (stew, or spring rolls, or???)
bread with a really yummy spread
crudites
cheeses and fruit tray
crustless PB&J sandwiches (absolutely delicious)
soda, wines, coffee/tea

late evening:
a dessert (usually a cobbler or pie)
assorted cookies, brownies
wine/cordials/coffee/tea/hot cocoa

There are a few things I'm sure I've forgot, but I think that gives you the idea.....it was all really yummy.

We loved Concierge on our trip, and for us it was worth it. I think it is subjective for everyone whether it is "worth" it to you.
If you book it ahead of time it usually costs about $100 a night I think....someone can correct me if I'm wrong. If you go for an upgrade at check in I have heard it run anywhere from $40 to $60 a night.

Again, it is subjective.....my family really loved the time it saved us and we loved the CM's. They were very helpful to us. One of the big things we really loved was being able to have breakfast before we headed to the parks. It saved us time and got us started out without delay.

They were very accomodating with anything that we asked for that they could help with.

Of course this would be coming from one of the DIS Concierge Queens...
and I was going to be unbiased in my response, but I read corky's post.....couldn't have said it any better!:)

It's your 5th anniv and you're on a cruise/vacation!

Go for the concierge!
You'll love the extra pampering too!::yes::

:D :) Thanks!!

I went to the WL in March last year and was booked in a std view room and was able to upgrade when i checked in for an additional $40.00 per night. I of course did it. You may want to consider this as an alternative. Also the concierge rooms have balconies that are all wood and you can not see very well. I would recommend getting a great view room on another floor and requesting concierge privleges. You will still pay concierge prices but you will have a much better balcony. Have a great trip.

Did you ask to be upgraded or did WL ask you if you wanted to be upgraded?

I asked what the cost would be for an upgrade because i had read on this board that people had been upgraded for 40.00 a night. I would do it again but i would get a different floor to have the balcony you can see better with and then just get a key to get me up to the concierge level. Good luck!!

$40 seems cheap to be upgraded to concierge. Is this something that is available most of the time if you ask at check-in? I would really be interested in this.

Thanks:bounce:

I only did it once at WL. I don't think you would be able to do it at any of the Deluxe resorts but I could be wrong. A lot of people seem to get the upgrades at WL and AKL.

Many of the upgrades are available at AKL and WL. I was upgraded from Standard to a courtyard view room at WL...for free! I would have paid the extra for concierge at the time, but it was not available! I say go for it! :D

We upgraded to concierge upon check in, but I don't remember what the extra cost was for us. Whatever we paid, it was worth it and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We are now spoiled forever!
