Please tell me what you love or don't love about WL concierge - tell me everything!

Trying to decide whether or not to upgrade....

Convince me! ;)

Nothing I "hated" about it, but some things I didn't really care for.

1. No place to sit while you work with concierge staff on PS's and other requests. Makes it feel awkward.

2. No lounge and comfortable seating. I like the lounge to have a sofa and some overstuffed chairs like at the BWI, AKL, PR, etc.

3. Most of the CM's we met were very nice, only one "lemon" who I think was just having a bad day. We were there two days after Frances hit, and it was a very stressful time for everyone.

I guess hate is a bit strong! Poor choice of verbiage...your at Disney after all!

What I meant to ask, is what you may "dislike" or feel could be improved...

I'm glad you asked this question, and I hope you get a lot of responses because we're currently booked at the Wilderness Lodge concierge for our anniversary in July, and from everything I've been reading regarding concierge room views (meaning, that you CAN'T pay for, or guarantee, a specific view), I'm not sure that we'll be entirely happy staying there. DH and I are the type who "want what we want" and don't mind paying for it. I would rather have the option to PAY for a specific concierge view than leave it up to chance at check-in.

I am considering switching over to the Polynesian concierge, but my DH *really* wants to try the Wilderness Lodge, and honestly, I do want to try it too, but I just don't like certain aspects of their concierge level, mainly the whole room-view issue. I realize we could book JUST a courtyard view room without concierge, but we want to stay concierge on this trip.

Please keep the comments coming in, they are all very helpful :)

We loved everything about WL Concierge!! We're pretty easy to please though.....I actually liked the fact that there was not a real lounge....I found the tables and chairs set up along the railing overlooking the lobby (which is beautiful) to be really private. We've also stayed at Poly Concierge and while we really enjoyed it, there were many more people there competing for what we thought were fewer seats. Yes, Poly had a real lounge but it was always super crowded and we were lucky if we found a seat. We never had this problem at WL....also, we found the staff at WL to be extremely helpful and among the nicest CM we met in WDW. The food offering were great as well....no complaints here :)

We upgraded for an extra $45 per night at checkin. We really enjoyed the conceirge service and the wonderful coffee alone (especially with a shot of Bailey's in it) made the expense worth while. We always found comfortable seating overlooking the lobby and felt like we had a lot of privacy. Once or twice in the morning seating was completely filled up but upon seeing we had a small child a few people would vacate their seats. The staff were all very nice and made it a point to pass through and chat with people. The food offerings were really ample and a few evening we found ourselves not needing dinner.

All that being said I don't think I'd reserve conceirge when booking a room. We never used the conceirge staff for anything and the food/drinks, while nice, just wouldn't justify the expense. However, that's just my opinion.

We loved the Concierge level so much at the WL that we are headed back in a few days. :cool1: People complain about the view from the balcony, but DH and I enjoy the privacy, and like to look up at the night sky from our chairs. Standing, you still get a great view too. But since we weren't in our room much, it didn't matter. The lounge is cozy, and it seems private the way the tables and chairs are spread out along the railing overlooking the georgeous lobby. The CMs were great at helping us do just about everything. :cheer2: It is totally worth it for us.

We really enjoyed our stay at WL CL. I also liked the "lounge". It was great to sit on a sofa or at a table and watch the lobby below. I thought the food offerings were fabulous (better than YC) and the CM's were all really nice.

On the down side....

All concierge level rooms have a "closed in" balcony. Basically because you are on the top floor, you have the sloped roofs coming right off the balcony. This was okay for us b/c I felt safer with my 2 year old out there, but if it had been just DH and I, I would have preferred an open balcony. If you were sitting down, you just didn't see anything. We had a view of the villas and the quiet pool. Not terrible.

I think that you can book a regular room with whatever view you want and then add the concierge service on. You would just have to take the elevator to get to the lounge. I would definately ask about that option if you are at all concerned about your view.
