Hi,
I have a Deluxe Club room booked for Christmas for my family of 6. I've been reading through the WL Resorts thread and also the Concierge thread.

But I'm confused about something.

All Deluxe Guest Rooms feature woodland views.

Deluxe Room Inner Courtyard Views:
Five of these rooms are located mid-way down the South Wing and have a beautiful view of the inner courtyard.

I got both of these from the WL Resorts info thread, but they seem contradictory.

Does anyone have the correct info, or explain what I'm misunderstanding?

Also, I read that no Deluxe (Jr Suite) rooms are located on the 7th floor where the lounge is. Is this true?

Thanks for any help!

I'm a threadkiller before it even got started!:rotfl2:

While waiting for a kind soul to answer, does anyone want to talk about the WL Club level? I'm staying there for the first time, and probably not going to the parks much, so I thought having the lounge will provide a place to relax and have a few drinks.

And I'm staying in the Deluxe (formerly called "jr suite") because we have 6 in our group, and the deluxe has that parlor room with the queen sofa behind the French doors. It costs a lot less than getting two rooms. We'll only be there for two nights pre-cruise.

I heard the lounge was in a hallway-type area. It doesn't sound too large.

So, anyone want to jump in?

You have club level acess but the Deluxe rooms are not located on the 7th(clublevel) floor! I really don't have any information regarding you other question.

Here's what the latest greatest WL FAQ thread shows about the Deluxe room locations with actual room numbers:

DELUXE-TWO QUEEN BEDS & ONE SOFA BED
The Deluxe rooms have now been upgraded to Club Level (Concierge) they sleeps 6. The Deluxe Guest Room has a sitting area separated from the bedroom by French doors, additional television, refrigerator with ice machine, coffeemaker, and wet bar. All Deluxe Guest Rooms feature woodland views.
Other guest suites are also available

I found the following information posted by a Wilderness Lodge expert (trust me this poster knows The Wilderness Lodge and the Villas) adding it to our information as it's very informative.

orignally posted by HumphreytheBearThere are actually 25 "Deluxe Rooms" (Junior Suites) They are 1000, 1003, 1166, 1169, 2000, 2003, 2123, 2166, 2169, 3000, 3003, 3123, 3166, 3169, 4000, 4003, 4123, 4166, 4169, 5000, 5003, 5123, 5166, 5169 and 6123.

All of these rooms do offer a connecting option that would be a room with 2 queen beds or a room with one king bed that is either woods or courtyard view. Rooms X000 are the rooms in the North wing that are at the very end of the hall on the left corner, Contemporary side they are Lake/tree view, X003 are the 2 doors down on the right corner with a pool/lake/tree view rooms X123 are halfway down the south wing in the left corner overlooking the pool/lake/geyser. Room X166 is the room at the far end of the south wing on the left corner with a lake view and rooms X169 are 2 doors down on the right corner also with a lake view. Rooms 2123, 3123, 1166, 1169, 2166, and 2169 have "dormer balconies, due to the design of the building these rooms have brick on the balcony railing so you can not see out unless you are standing up (if you sit you see brick), just FYI.

**************

The lounge itself is no longer in the hallway (though the seating is right outside the food area) - here's some photos (others and my own), and then some info I previously posted from when we stayed there:

WL Old Faithful Club Hours:

What was offered when we were there (I'm sure I've forgotten some items, but it will give you an idea):

*Breakfasts offered different cereals, sliced fruits, danish, 2 kinds of muffins, croissants, bagels, etc. (toaster was there for toasting) whole fruit, yogurt, OJ/cranberry/apple juice, teas, milk, chocolate milk, coffee machines for cappucinos, lattes, mocha, etc. always available when lounge was open- Fruit was always out (bananas, apples, oranges etc)

*Refreshments included mixed nuts, goldfish crackers, gummy bears, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, etc. Ice tea/Lemonade, etc.

(Large bottle waters were always out by ice bucket for all services)

*Wine and cheese - good crackers, tray of cheese cubes (hot pepper/swiss/cheddar/wedge of blue cheese or similiar) veggie plate with dip, wonderful thick sliced bread (I think it was a sourdough, I usually had to have two slices with butter as I love homemade bread! Just ask my hips :scared: ) sometimes with a spread in a bowl next to the basket (one day tomato basil, the next babah ganoush), peanut butter and jelly uncrustables, and on the other side in two le Creuset casseroles/dutch ovens (warning - heavy lids! Kids shouldn't try to lift them) one day of our stay was Minestone (really exceptionally YUMMY!) and the other pan had pork and cabbage, the next day one pan had clam chowder, other pan had beef and bisquits, and the next day one pan had chicken broth with veggies, the other pan had paella. Wines were Merlot (14 Hands), White Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, sorry I don't remember all the beers but Bass Ale and Miller Lite were there in the cooler with Coke and Diet Coke, Sprite, juice boxes and other drinks

*Cordials and desserts - Kahlua, Grand Marnier, etc. Small dessert bites like brownies, magic bars, cookies

My picture shows the cooler before they stocked it up :)

Hi, The Wilderness Lodge FAQ Thread is correct. I have stayed in the Deluxe Rooms and posted the information on the FAQ Thread. The information posted has been verified with the room assigners at the Lodge. I have also added the additional information to the post to help clarify any misunderstanding in the room view for the Deluxe Rooms.

The deluxe rooms are located through out the Lodge and the views vary, they are considered non view specific. Meaning you don't pay any more for a view you may have, because your paying for the room class not a view. The standard club level rooms are also non view specific which means you may only request a view or room location.

They classify them as woodland view because that would be a possible view you may receive.

The majority (20) of the deluxe rooms are located at the ends of both North and South Wings. Both wings would offer views of Bay Lake but the North Wing rooms have trees between some of the rooms and the lake, while the rooms located in the South Wing have less obstructed views of the lake.

There are 5 deluxe rooms located half way down the south wing, these rooms will have a view of the Inner Courtyard. They are not classified as courtyard view because none of the deluxe rooms are view specific.

So too receive one of these rooms will be up to the room assigner, if you would like a specific room location you should have the request added to your room reservation. Remember a request isn't a guarantee so you may receive any of the rooms.

example:
Request room located at the end of the North Wing.
Request room Located at the end of the South Wing.
Request room located half way down South Wing near elevators.

There are no deluxe rooms located on the 7th floor as others have posted, you will have access to the 7th floor via your room key.

Where the food is isn't too big of a room but the surrounding seating is fine. Some mornings it filled up but we always found a spot to sit. The weird thing about this lounge is they close the doors in between feedings~ They leave a coffee pot out for those that want it, but the food and drink room is closed! SO if you want something when it's off feeding time you will have to ask. You can sit at the surrounding seats all you want but you won't have access to the food until the doors open.We stayed at 3 other CL hotel this trip and this was the only place that I didn't feel totally welcomed and felt that I was waiting to pounce once the doors did open. Just glad it was our first stop since it warmed us up for better. Don't get me wrong...the people were great and the food did the job and we did enjoy our nightly cordial or wine. I'm just saying that they can improve a little and take some pointers from the AKL and CR~

Wow, about keeping the door closed. At least the sitting area is open all the time. We're going to be spending a lot of time at the hotel, so at least we can sit there to hang out and relax indoors, and not loiter in the main lobby!

I sent an email to the WL IPO a few days ago to ask about providing food and drinks for a small get-together with a few friends in the room(s), but haven't heard back. I'm almost at 200 days, and I need to start planning the budget for this special request. I never stayed Club level anywhere, so i don't know if i should call or email again or just wait.

I've read that the IPOs usually get back to you within 24 hours. Maybe the WL has a different policy?:confused3

We stayed WL Club Level in January 2008 (for the first time). We loved it. Here's a link to my trip report from that visit - there's some concierge info in it, so you may find it helpful.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1704634

As you can see from the pictures people have posted, the concierge lounge is NOT in the hallway. (I think it was originally before a remodel.)

Thanks, Dodie. I'm going to read your TR now.:thumbsup2

Question though,
did you arrive by Magical Express bus? If so, did you let the bellperson (luggage person) at the entrance know you were staying Club level? I'm asking because I read that Club level checks-in on the 7th floor, not in the lobby.

EDITED to add: I just found the answer to my question right in the beginning of your TR! LOL

If you don't hear from them by monday write again. Don't bother doing it over the weekend.
It was really weird to see the door closed in between. Since it was our first stay we thought it was normal. That is until we transferred to the CR and it was an open lounge all day with coffee, soda, and drinks out all the time. I guess each place is different. It was good enough for our first stay. We enjoyed the breakfast and the nightime things.
Have a great time! There are a lot of places to sit. There are couches on the sides that are real comfy. We sat there a few times. Some of the tables overlook the pool so there's something to look at while you eat~

It took 4 days to receive a reply, which I think is a reasonable amount of time. I just thought someone planning to stay at WL club may be interested in this information.

I just found out that the WL and the Poly share their IPO staff.

I feel just this way. WL could take some pointers from AKL. We stayed in the Jr Suite or Deluxe room also. We were the last room on the outer horse shoe. It was a hike to the lounge. The view was of the woods and some lake and the beach. We were on the side near the villas. I would say it was just OK compared to AKL. The food was good but the staff so so. Hope that helps.

I know AKL has the famous "Don". Does the WL have someone like him working the lounge?

I just booked a trip to the WL concierge level a few days ago for a trip in January.:rotfl: How long should I wait to hear from the IPO? When should I call them if I dont hear from them?

Don doesn't work the lounge, only the planning part~
WL had so many different CM's working it that over 4 days we never saw the same person twice!

I know AKL has the famous "Don". Does the WL have someone like him working the lounge?
