I posted this on DVC as well but thought I might get a quicker response here!
I have never stayed at any of the villas before. I have been to all of the resorts and love them all. I am planning on staying at a villa in Feb and we will be getting a 2 bedroom. I was thinking about WL for the convenience but I am not sure that it is as nice as the newer ones? SS looks beautiful but so removed...there will be a 4 and 7 yr old with us.

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons? I love the Boardwalk area but thought the MK area might be a better choice with the kids??? Should we attempt SS just for the "newness" or are they all in good shape?

Our favorite DVC resort is the Boardwalk Villas. :cloud9: We love the ability to walk to MGM Studios and to Epcot and just the entire atmosphere of the Boardwalk resort.

We also LOVE the Wilderness Lodge, in fact we almost always go over at somepoint during our vacation just to walk around and soak it all in. It just is so beautiful and over in the lobby of the Villas just to hear the background music and it is so quiet and beautiful, just love it.!

We are going to be at Saratoga in December when we go for the first time. I kinda am stressing over the feeling of being so far away LOL. Even though it is so close to OKW and I don't feel that way there, I dont know what it is LOL.

We have yet to stay at Beach Club Villas, that was going to be our second choice for our December stay (WLV first) but there was no availability.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the resorts, I know that other members/guests tend to be a little more critical, we just dont seem to notice.

Good luck and have a great time! :)

With the kids, I'd probly go with WL.

On my own, definitely BW or BC

Do you tend to spend a lot of time at the MK when you are at WDW??? If so, VWL is probaly your best bet, since you have direct access by boat. You can zip back and forth at will. It is a lovely resort...very serene & peaceful, beautiful pool areas...both the main pool & the DVC pool. Some nice grounds to walk/bike around. They are right on Bay Lake, so they have boat rentals. There is some fun family-oriented stuff that goes on at Fort Wilderness, which is a short distance away...I believe you can walk there, but I could be wrong about that. In the evening, you can watch the Electric Water Pageant from the beach. They also have the geyser which erupts every hour which is pretty neat.

As far as the Boardwalk area...if you were to stay at either resort there, I'd go for the BCV, primarily because of the pool, Stormalong Bay. It is by far the best pool complex on WDW property. BCV is located essentially in the same area as the BWV, you can walk/boat to Epcot & MGM, there is the whole Boardwalk area and the shopping/dining/entertainment that is located there. The BWV is a beautiful resort as well, but it doesn't have the pool. The pool is really the deal-breaker for me to lean toward the BCV.

If I were to choose between VWL & BCV, I'd choose the BCV, but I don't have children, so don't need proximity to MK.

SSR is lovely but close to DTD, which might not be your best bet with kids. OKW the same. If you want a resort with easy access to theme parks, stick with VWL or one of the Boardwalk resorts.
